I hope someone can help me. I have read the previous posts but would like help on the specific issue of driver details.
My car was parked outside my home (public road) and a driver damaged my car and fled the scene. My car now has a set of scrapes and dents.
Luckily the car number plate, colour and make as well as the gender of the driver was all noted down by a neighbour. Phoned police straight away and said that they would put a marker on the vehicle and also to make a formal report at the station.
It turns out that no such marker was done or even possible, and it is the job of one single police officer to handle the incident and that it could take up to 2 weeks to deal with. By which time, the driver could have fixed any damage and deny any wrongdoing.
Just annoyed that with so much detail to go on, and it being quite a serious offence (failing to stop and report?), that the police do not have much sense of urgency.
Phoned insurance co. but they need a name or an address of driver for legal dept to get going.
Has anyone experienced this type of incidence before, and does anyone recommend any steps to achieve a good and prompt result.
Thanks. Read more
Hi I have a 1.6 petrol renault megan scenic 02, It has suddenly developed a intimitent starting fault. When you turn the key all of the electrics turn on however nothing from under the bonnet as if the battery is dead or the starter motor is jammed. Battery is absolutely fine and jump starting does not make a blind bit of difference, had a new starter motor and fly cable and all the wire connections checked with no answer to what is wrong with it.. The car does bump start and this is what we have to resort to even when the AA came to help it resorted to this. Is anyone else having/had the smae problem? We have ran out of ideas please any suggestions or help would be greatly apprecaited.

hi Alison
I am having the same starter problems with my renault scenic, can I please as if you ever resolved yours as the symptoms are the same....
im in need of some advise, i brought the car a couple months ago she runs fine but occasionaly she missfires and looses power on pull away. i have had advise from a few garages includin mitsubishi themselves and was told to give it a full engine flush and oil change, new spark plugs, new coil pack, air filter, red x and injection cleaner has been put in it but shes still missin occasionaly. She has just had a diagnostic check and i was told that shes got a fault on the valve timing or a mechanical fault and that its missfiring on cylinder 3. But another garage has said that if the timing was out then she would miss fire on all 4 cylinders. I have contacted the previous owners and they said that they had a problem with it clogging up with carbon on the throttle body, he had it reconditioned about 18 months ago and was workin fine again. im at a loose end now as i dont want to spend out on replacing parts if its stil not going to cure the problem. can anyone advise me on what to do please Read more
Are these the 12.5:1 comp ratio engines which are fussy on type/grade of fuel?
Answer may be covered in these previous links........
I have a mk2 Golf 1300 with transistorized ignition
The engine cut out whilst driving, it would not re-start after many attempts, the engine did crank though.... Read more
I replaced the distributor with a second hand distributor (used the same cap & ht leads though). The engine started and I left it running for 15mins, after an hour I returned to start the engine but it failed to start, just the usual starter motor cranking the engine. Surely then the hall sensor on the first distributor was not at fault? so what next?...
Good day. I have a 1985 W123 running on M102 2.0 engine on Pierburg 175CD carburettor with a red damper cover. I notice that my car is severely underpower and heavy on fuel (less than 18MPG average). Also, when i accelerate in full, there will be a lot of black smake coming out from the exhaust. Ive adjusted the air/fuel mixture on the warm water autochoke but is still the same. My car start very well (1 kick start) whether on a hot or cold day and idle very well. What can be the problem? thanks. Read more
Worn needle and jet I suspect - assuming the diaphram is okay - change the lot, quick and easy to do - doesn't cost much either.
In his review of the new Peugeot 508 diesel HJ comments that he expects a significant shift back to petrol once the public 'discover the disadvantages of EU5 diesels'. What's an EU5 diesel ? and what are the disadvantages? I've asked him what they are and I expect he'll let me know but does anyone else know?
I've got an M-B C220 CDI and I quite like it. Read more
All VAG CR diesels are already EU5 compliant - EU5 was the reason the PD system was dropped.
In my post I said most manufacturers addressed EU4 compliance on DPFs - NOT ALL
bought before xmas, and was anon starter, replaced battery and checked all basic stuff and after it one day cranking and not firing and then another day not even cranking it finally sprung into life...runs and drives great, but engine light on in dash, but only runs and starts when it wants too..when it starts and runs the light is on,then it will just stop either on a run or while on spot, and not start again, just crank and not fire,at this point the engine light will be off, then when it decides too a few days or longer after it will start again and be great untill the next time.....with the light on again! had code read and got p4020(catalist not effeicent to bank 1) reset engine light and guess what? now its off it wont run again...and sometimes not even crank over all decides on its mood. no fuel pump charge on ignition on when its like this and strangely the air con light glows slighty with ignition on when the car is a non starter...yet when its a runner it dont........my head truly hurts!!!! please help!

Hi all. I am having a problem with my Honda FRV 1.7SE. If I park up and turn off the engine I cannot use radio/lights/fan or anything 'battery powered' as the battery seems to lose charge very quickly (I'm talking a matter of seconds) and the car won't start. If I use jump leads the engine fires up straight away. I have also noticed the headlights occasionally but regularly will dim slightly now and again.

We also have an FRV, the headlights dimming occasionally is most likely to be the air conditioning pump & fans turning on, this happens every 30 seconds or so and is normal.
If you have the ignition and a/c on and the engine isn't running the radiator fans still run, this will flatten the battery very quickly....
My electric front windows have stopped working. They stooped on Tuesday then stated again but now wont work at all. Although the front windows are fused separatley I have checked them and are both OK. I have also checked the plug and switches on the door which both seem OK. Read more
I just wanted to add to this that my windows are finally fixed. Took them a long time to work it out. There are apparently two control boxes for the windows and doors, on in the door and one in the dashboard, and it was the one from the door that was faulty. Had somehow scrambled it's circuits.
I have a 57 plate VW Sharan 1.9 TDI I have heater problems when it is icy cold outside when it is icy outside the engine takes ages to reach the normal operating temperature such as 90 straight up on the dashboard heater gauge. in that snowy weather I was stuck on the motorway for five hours with the engine mainly just idling and it still didn't get to 90 because of this the climate control panel along with the engine does not seem to provide hot air around the cabin until it reaches 90 when it is not so cold outside say around 8+ C in the engine will get to normal temperature quicker I am not sure you'd be AUX heater is working either sometimes I hear some strange worrying noises coming from the back of the car anyone have any ideas of what it could all be? Cheers Read more
Are you **SURE** that the aux heater is working ok. What you describe matches failure of that to work correctly. If that is the case then it is usually the glow plug that is a reasonable DIY job, or relatively quick garage job as long as they don't try and get to to buy a new unit. Had similar with my Alhambra and a £50 glow plug (not sure of current price) sorted it.
If you go for a garage then try and get a good independent. I understand that main dealers often want to replace the whole unit rather than repair components....

Was reading some posts and thought she may have left us, but whatis the dark side lol?
