Hi, I have exactly the same problem. It's not the gasket. It's defiantly a fuelling issue, but not exactly sure what? Anyone have any luck with this fault?

I have Chrysler voyager 2.5 SE turbo deisel, and it runs fine but cuts out when slowing down and sometimes on cornering as well

The garage mechanic is having headache now trying to solve this at first when he took it for road test previously he said he was fine and never cut out on him but now after I said to him I am sorry but its still cuts out he had it from me properly because it was awkward for me as I had no oher transport to use so my freinds at my garage where I bought the voager from has kindly loaned me another vehicle while he sorts the problem out.... Did Chrysler sort the problem out? Im having the exact same issue with mine.

Did you get any answers? Mine is doing the same but was not starting again for about 30 mins. I changed the cam sensor and checked the wiring and ill I have fixed now is its restarts right away, but still randomly cuts out. Has anyone come across the problem with a proven solution yet?

Hi All, my vivaro was lacking power at low revs and was diagnosed with a mass air flow problem which I took to a garage to be replaced, once replaced the mechanic started the van up and it ran fine for about 15 seconds then the engine tone changed to what I can only describe as a bag of hammers being thrown around, as a process of elimination he changed the cam belt and pulleys, still no change, called the AA out again and they didnt know what it was so took the van to a 2nd garage, they were puzzled and suggested to change the mass air flow "AGAIN" but the noise was still there, so several people suggested to take it to a well known and very good diesel specialist which I did and after they investigated the following removed exhaust, air intake hose, egr valve, assy, turbo actuator, cambelt cover, auxilairy drive belt and air flow meter to try to identify where and why the van is making such a noise but to no avail. so far the van has as you can imagine cost a small fortune but it still sounds like a massey ferguson tractor. has anyone experienced this or do you know what it is ? please please help, many thanks and thanks for reading, regards allan. When test driving a 2009 Freelander diesel, the dealer assured me that this age of Freelander (registered March 2009) did not have a DPF and that they were only fitted to more recent versions. Is this true, and if so, when were DPFs introduced on the Freelander, and how can I know for sure whether a car I consider has one or not ? I assume that without a DPF, the concerns about too many short journeys in a diesel car disappear ?

Thanks for any advice. Read more

Road tax charge may be a give away. I have a 58 Freelander 2 and I ordered it new without a DPF, it was an option on the price list !! Why would i want to pay more to have one fitted , then to continue to have it replaced plus the fuel consumption was worse with a DPF, so a no brainer really.

Concerns about short journeys with DPF clogging up will dissapear !...

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this. I have recently bought March 2008 Cooper D and in the service book there is no mention of cambelt replacement. Read more

I have been quoted the sum of £428 for a 75000 full service form my local main dealer. Looked on the internet and found a national network called "ServicingStop". They are quoting £228 for a full service and MOT. They organise a local garage to collect the car, service/MOT it, and ring you to pay the bill. Once you have paid, they deliver the car back.

Has anyone any experience of this group and any advice on whether to use them? Read more

I've just found a local mobile mechanic with AA Breakdown background and 7.5 years as a mechnic at a Mercedes dealership. He quoted half the price which I'd pay at my indi for a cambelt using a full kit change and waterpump. He's also given good advice over the phone, which saved me a call out fee from my normal garage when I had a problem last Sunday. He didn't mind being contacted on a Sunday!

Better advise dont buy from a private buyer. For the sake of spending around £500 go to a dealer. The car should be as recorded, safe, serviced,MOTed and a good chance of getting major faults fixed by them. These kind of issues and Sales of Goods act. Makes it the best £500-1000 (indie-dealer) extra you every pay.

Regards V5 and HPI. The hole point of cloning a car is that a car takes the identity of an already registered car!...

Hi all

I am after some advice. I have recently purchased the vehicle and have discovered that the temperature gauge never reaches what I would consider to be normal operating temperature. The needle only reaches about 1/3 of the way up gauge - that is despite sitting in traffic for hours at a time, so I assume that this is a problem with overcooling although i am yet to hear the cooling fan cut in. Other than this the car runs perfectly and we are being provided with plenty of heat from the climate control system. (I have tried switching off the climate control and still have the same problem, so it doesnt seem to be this that is affecting the temperature).... Read more

@craig-pd130 I have just read your review and it makes interesting reading. I have to say in the 1200 or so miles i have done I would agree with your findings. Mine has the optional (I think) 17" wheels which wouldnt have been my choice (but i got a good price) and i feel crashes a little more through potholes than it would on 16"s.

Car is booked in for garage to have a look at the gearchange into 2nd and I will ask them about the temperature gauage reading and to check all hoses etc. when its in. The guy i spoke to did say that it was a cable operated mechanism and should be able to be adjusted. I will report back on what they find.

Oldtofffee above gets nearest to the truth. I had seven reliable Renaults in a row, the first in 1980 and the last in 1998. After that I changed jobs and got a higher salary but no car, and buying one's own Renault was a no-no because of high depreciation (market perception caused by other pepple's problems).

There seems to have been a serious dip in quality between 2000 and 2005, but a 2006 mnodel should be better. There are of course plenty of good examples around, but the reality is that getting a good one is more of a gamble than it would be with a Japanese car. Japanese cars (petrol ones anyway) seem to be abvle to withstand abuse and neglect better than Europeans....

Hi all
I posted a while back as I was worried about my VW Polo Bluemotion if I were to move closer to my work and stop doing 100 mile round-trip commutes. I am now soon moving even closer than expected. Basiclaly I won't be using the car much and it would be mainly short trips.

When I first had the car I had problems with teh dpf light coming on. The 100 mile round-trip commutes sorted that completely.

But now I'm wondering if there is anything I can do when I move again?
Or would the best optionbe to try & sell the car and get a non-dpf (probably petrol) one?

I should also mention it's an 09. If I did have to sell it how would I get the most for it (not keen on part-exing on a more expensive one) Read more

It doesn't -- DPF regeneration is the same as a charcoal fire, the soot burns to produce carbon dioxide and water.

The tiny amount of non-flammable residue remains trapped in the DPF matrix, but takes up far less room than the soot particles so doesn't affect engine operation.
