Hi All,
I just got a text form a VW dealer I have used once to say my car needs an aircon srvice. I can't find anything about aircon services in the manual. It's an 09 at 35000 miles at the moment.

While this dealer is convenient I always go elswhere as they are overly expensive.

Any thoughts?

We have an 04 Passat we've owned from new, slightly over serviced but not by much, a 10 Fiat and a 10 Subaru and the Passat has the coldest aircon by some measure. The aircon hasn't been "serviced" or regassed but is used all year round.

Can anyone suggest a good way of selling private number plates other than the usual dealers. The ideal would be to put them in an auction, but DVLA only sell their own plates and I haven't seen any regular auction houses doing a plate sale.

The plates have been valued by a few dealers at 7-10k but the only dealer to offer cash only offered 4k.... Read more

I sold a plate via a dealer many years ago and his profit margin was 50%!

Best to sell by other methods if possible....

Basically my near side headlight seems to be a lot dimmer than the off side one. At first I thought it was a duff bulb, but I checked them and they seemed fine (I even changed them and still the same result)

I have now noticed that the level adjuster is not working either (it points a lot higher than the other side, even if the other side is at its maximum)... Read more

Hi

I'm new to these forums but been reading some of the other threads on here and it seems the best place to get advice from the public and see if anyone has experienced anything similar.... Read more

We deal with these cases all the time. They come about because there is a report of an accident which is usually supported by a witness. The driver then reports to the police to attempt to get the ID of the driver and the police wheels then slowly start to turn on the basis that an offence has been committed and reported to them.

If there was no damage - and better still no accident we can almost always get the charges dropped. If there was an accident and damage then it is more difficult but they will often drop the charges provided the damage is rectified....

As a long time occasional lurker and as I cannot find the answer elsewhere at the moment I would like to answer the following question.

My wife runs the above vauxhall estate and her consumption varies between 24 and 34 mpg. The consumption from vauxhalls web site suggests that she should be getting be between 28-48mpg, She used to have an old 1.6 astra auto which returned between 27-49. The consumption is measured brim to brim. Any suggestions please.... Read more

Hello, I changed the rear brake pads on my 02 Mondeo yesterday. Had a devil of a job to get the pistons back in to make space for new pads (broke a decent sized g-clamp trying). Ended up taking them off, getting them in a vice and hammering them back in (desperate men do desperate things!)

Read on a forum today they need to be wound back in with a special tool!!! I didn't notice at the time I am hoping that they would have tracked around as I hammered,... Read more

In an extension of my last post, I'm still concerned about the burnt fuse. The diagrams in the manaul infuriatingly don't match my box. There's diagrams for 13, 23 and 30 fuse boxes but mine has 33 if I count.

It's the 6th fuse in from the left on the top row. 1.4 Meridian, Phase 3. Anyone know what fuse it is? Read more

Hi all

Had a prob with my 306. Sometimes the engine will keep running after I remove the key (it eventually stops when I press the brake) and cooling fan will then run constantly, meaning I have to disconnect the battery to prevent it draining.... Read more

Recently I replaced the battery in the Shuttle. I left the old battery, a heavy duty Banner model, outside the house waiting for the weekend when I'd take it to the environmental disposal container at the tip. Imagine when my surprise to find someone had pinched it within 24 hours. An useless old battery and very heavy - what possible value is it to anyone? benet Read more

A house nearby is having some building work done. A ten foot length of old cast -iron soil pipe had been removed (imagine the inside?). It disappeared within a couple of hours. The builder wasn't disappointed, he expected it and it saved him the effort of getting rid of it.

When a colleague changed his oil, he reckoned he'd leave the old oil in a clean container in a new Halford's carrier bag on his drive. It'd always disappear.
