Hi, hope you can help, i bought my motorhome almost a year ago, it runs very well returns 30 mpg, does not use or lose oil or water, but ever since i bought it, has smoked on start up . This is not noticeable during normal driving, but when sitting idling you can smell a fuel/parafin odour, and a light blueish smoke is noticeable. Recently i put the van off road on sorn for two months, now when i start up there is loads of smoke which lessens as the engine heats up but does not go away. The van has only done 26k, can i have your thoughts please.
Thanks Jim Read more
I've had problems recently with My focus (82K on the clock). Coming back round the M25 it struggled to accelerate barely getting over 60mph. A mobile mechanic diagnosed a leaking injector which I had replaced. But the car still suffers from lack of acceleration power, struggling to get up hills at times. A local garage with a good reputation says the turbo has failed and quoted £800 to repair. However someone else has said it's a common problem for an injector to be blocked and all I need is to put some injector cleaner through and then 'thrash the engine' until it blows away the blockage. Has anyone else had this problem or know what it could be? Read more
The variable vanes on the turbo may be stuck due to sooty deposits or the actuator may have failed - check if the actuator link moves when the accelerator is floored. In some cases it is posible to vclean and free up the moving vanes, provided the turbo itself is otherwise sound.
How stupid am I ?
I managed to get the pollen filter out, stood up and examined it. To b***** interested in seeing if it looked like it had been changed recently. And hence I made the classic cock up, I forgot which way it was when in situation.
Now when putting my hand in the filter slot, I cannot honestly say which way the air flow is blowing.
So the big question is to anybody who has done one on a Mk2 Focus, does the Air Flow Arrows on the side of the filter, point towards the BONNET or towards the CABIN, when fitted correctly ?
As I don't want to put it all back together, then find I have it in the wrong way.
Cheers Read more
Cheers mate much appreciated,
and yes I had it confirmed as such by two other guys on another forum. Unlike me they had both been paying attention when doing te job. Me I was to intrested in inspecting the filter to assertain if it had ever been changed.
Anyway as it turned out, I fathomed it out myself proir to anyone coming back with an answer. Besides I just wanted to put it all back together, I didn't want the neigbours thinking I didn't know what I was doing lol.
I once owned a pub, and in the beer cellar there was a fan behind the aircon unit forcing air through it. As against a fan in front of the aircon unit trying to pull air through it. So I just applied that logic to my problem, and at worst I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right. lol
Photo's of whats involved and instructions can be found by following the included link. I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules doing it, but I look on the web as one big universal help forum. In that we are all here to help one another

I have a 95/96 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 16v Ecotec that reads that it is getting hot.
It is getting hot enough for the rad fan to cut in even in the winter we have just had. The gauge sits half way when driving (95ish degrees) then goes up to 105 and the fan cuts in as soon as you are in traffic and it does this constantly. The water in the expantion tank is not that hot(warm but not boiling and you can put your finger in it without burning it).... Read more
If its done any sort of mileage a new radiator may be needed.
I have put a new rad on it, and the system has been drained down twice, once when doing the water pump and once when changing the rad. Both times it had clean water and new anti freeze. The heat in the rad feels even all across the rad.
Hi, does anyone know where to find the throttle relay on a 1.0 e?
Thanks... Read more
There is no throttle relay on these .The fault codes relate to the electronic throttle body /position sensor.hth
Hi all.
3 months ago I purchased a 2.2 dCi Tino (136bhp model) for commuting to work, and have been very disappointed with the fuel economy I am getting. Nissan's combined mpg is 44mpg, I am averaging just 37mpg.... Read more
My car on average of 200 miles a day returns 43-44mpg and for the sake of the record there is no auto transmission on this care available. My experience is that this is a binding brake issue for new researches now its 2019.
hi

i just done a search on goggle and typed in master cyclinder and all that comes up is the cylinder on the pedal not a complete unit
i have a 2007 vauxhall movano(renault master), it wouldnt start at all 4 weeks ago, dianostic said faulty air mass meter so changed that and now it starts however it revs at 1700 on its own, throttle pedal doesnt work and the stop lights on the dash are flashing, after clearing codes off before its coming up with throttle postioning sensor now so swaped the pedal over with another van thats the same and still nothing, when you put your foot on the brake the revs drop down to normal tick over, have changed the complete throttle pedal unit as i mentioned, also changed the throttle body and EGR valve, changed the brake switch, changed the crank shaft sensor, done a test on all the wires from pedal to the block connector in engine bay and there all good but still saying throttle pedal sensor on diagnostic, has 2 diffrent fault codes, a P0 and P2 code, had 6 diffrent people out to it now and all have no idea including a auto electrician. must be electrical i think but cant work out what or where, hopefully someone has come accross this before! Surprised you haven`t checked level, colour and smell of oil?You need this info to know which direction to head :) .If any of the above three checks reveal a large inconsistency, bearing in mind your symptoms, then you may need of a replacement service-exchange box.Sometimes you can top up the oil and get away with it;the fact you were on a steep gradient when poblem appeared might prove to be a lucky warning!
If these are all ok then find a cheap, reliable mechanic and ask for a quote(not estimate)to check the linkages. They should disconnect the main linkage and operate reverse independently. If it subsequently works ok then they should be able to make adjustments to/replace worn linkage components.
Hi all i have just got a volvo s60 d5 s on a 04 plate only 66000 on the clock
When i pull away in reverse or forward i can hear a click from the near side front wheel and then it stops untill i pull away again any one know what this could be ??... Read more
I have for some time been looking it to this clicking and have at last found the problem it is the lower ball joint is loose and this allows the drive sharft to move in and out witch is making the clicking sound also will give uneven tyre wear .
may be worth a try just cheak u cant turn the nut on the end my one i could turn with my fingers and the hole thing spun....

That's OK, I would have assumed the same except for the 1.9. Peugeot/Citroen engines are the only ones I know much about. They did go on using the 1.9 in some vehicles after the brought the Hdi out, very often in non turbo form - wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
