My Focus Studio TDCi suffered turbo failure last February. I took it to my garage and they quoted me £1300 to replace and flush out the engine etc. At that time I wasn't aware of the problems surrounding turbos on these models. Apparently the engine is manufactured by Peuoget and is used across a number of different manufacturers cars including the Stuido TDCi.

Last week, just four months later the turbo failed again. My garage then took it to the local Ford main dealer.... Read more

Look 11 posts up, and all the information anyone needs about this issue has been copied and pasted by poster Dickiedunn

The kind poster who was originally sending out the bulletins has not been seen on this forum for a long time that i'm aware of, if anyone cares to scroll through the above posts, the number of times poster ID was thanked for his kindness in sending people this information could be counted on the fingers of one hand, another unwelcome symptom of the times we live in, lack of basic good manners.

Having read all of the assorted horror stories with modern diesels (and having seen my Father endure a catastrophic problem with his 320d), is there any definitive guide as to the most reliable, modern, turbo diesel engine?I know that the 1.9 VAG engine was highly regarded but it is no longer available in a modern-ish car.

Havin spent a little time looking, it seemed to me that Honda's 2.2 lump might be seen as the best of a bad bunch?... Read more

Have to disagree with Toyota diesels being relaible - a relarive as all kinds of problems with his D4D although he does do low mileage whoch may contirbute to the issues.

Still THE vehicle of choice, eg Landcruiser/Hilux complete with its Diesel engine, in parts of the world where if your vehicles dies so do you....

Hi all
I have a 2006 113k tdci Mondeo, when using the turbo (foot harder down) the glow plug light comes on and i have limited power.

Fault Code P0251 - Injector pump fuel metering control (cam/rotor/injector)

When removing the engine cover I noticed lots of wetness around the injectors (they or one must be leaking fuel?).

Could this explain the fault or is it normal to have some leakage around the injectors?

If it is a fuel leak causing a low pressure under acceleration how could i cure it? I have wipped it all down and intend to try and find where the fuel is comming from.
Any advice on this fault would be great.
Thanks

I have never once recomended Ford infact if you were to read y mails I positively warn people from using ford or jaguar .If you split the unit and used odd bits without recalibration you were either very lucky or you have a bag of bones.I use a supplier who gets me recon complete units for under 200ukp.

They don,t bake themselves you cannot have looked at many look at my and other posts on this subject going back many years before you start waffling obviouslly about something you know very little.

My wife bought a 56-reg Cooper S six months ago. It has now done 42,000 miles. Twice it has made an odd noise and we have discovered that it is out of oil. The first time our garage put in five litres less than the engine and oil filter holds! We blamed it on the dealer not checking before we bought the car. My wife commutes 70 miles a day and I checked the oil today - three weeks since the last time - and it was only half full. The oil warning light has only once flickered briefly (I would have expected it to come on and stay on, but that is incidental). There is no sign of an oil leak or oil in the exhaust emissions. Has anyone heard of such a problem with MINI or any other BMW engines? Read more

Hello,
Which parts did you use as caps, rings bore!

Do I need just the caps put on or new rings and bore suggested?

Thanks a lot

My friend who is a driver of less than a year, has just told me that earlier today as she was driving out of a parking space in a normal outside car park in town, scrapped a car on her way out. As she is new she did not know what to do and didnt think there would be much damage and drove off. When she checked her car there were a few scratches.

She is now worried as to what will happen as she is not sure whether there were witnesses or cctv? will she get charged by police? points on her licence? court? ... Read more

Sorry to hijack the thread but i am having this same issue with my MK4 1.4. The power starts to drop around 3k revs but by 4k revs it has lost nearly all power. Have stripper the top end and cant even see a MAF sensor. If there is one on this model i would be very interested in knowing where it is. If not does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be. I havent taken it for diagnostics yet but this seems to be a weird problem, i have a few mechanically minded friends that have owned similar cars and they cant seem to work out the issue.
