My Nov 2006 (56) W203 C320CDi estate is just lovely to drive but has recently started to occasionally refused to accelerate or change down when asked (even past kick-down point). Driving in 'sport' mode (holds gears longer) seemed a bit better but still occasional hesitation or refusal with gearchange needing to be forced manually.
Today my wife has called me to say its doing it again and refused to go down more than one gear even manually - but was then fine again and changing happily whenever urged on. I did drive through VERY heavy rain and spray about a week ago on M40. Any thoughts / suggestions welcome.... Read more
Thanks guys for the help and suggestions.
Full power and gearbox functions restored....
I bought this car 10 weeks ago it came with a 3 month warranty. It has developed a very high pitch whistle which is steadily getting louder on accelerating only.Any ideas what it might be and can I get it fixed under the warranty? Read more
Boost is controlled via the intake manifold pressure not the back pressure in the exhaust so you won't get boost spikes.
An exhaust leak leak tends to be obvious in a diesel because the pulses are quite strong even at idle so you would get a throbbing noise.
My father has a 2009 Peugeot 308. It has an intermittent gearbox fault in that it sticks in neutral and the gear lever cannot select gears. Switching the engine off then on again seems to clear it. Warners Peugeot, Tewkesbury could not find any fault when they had it in last week. Any ideas? Read more
Google "Peuegot Planet Owners Map" to find a map of competent Peugeot Planet equipment owners who will do a diagnostic scan for a fraction of the dealer price.
OK I know there's a massive thread on this already but that seemed to go off on one so I thought I would ask a question of my own.
Recently (today) my car acted up with this anti pollution system fault, after a couple of minutes sat at the road side with the engine off it cured itself. But having read a few of the comments on here already it's only going to come back.... Read more
Well I've not had that so maybe you're onto something there, might throw some redex or similar into the tank next time I fill up and take a bit of a road trip!
Cheers

I wouldn't waste your money. If you had MAF problems you would almost certainly experience other driving problems.
I take it from their absence on your post that this is not occurring? The lambda was within spec for all the results you posted so why do you think the engine is struggling to meter airflow?
Hi There, Im looking at buying a car from BCA Blackbushe and I live in Poole, Dorset apx. 1hr 30mins away. From making a few visits to BCA I have found that most of the cars that go through do not have MOT's. I would be looking at mainly buying newish cars at most 6 years old. I want to know if anyone has had any experience or what you would recommend as the best way to get the vehicle home ideally on the same day. I don’t own a trailer but do know a friendly garage. Thanks in advance
First they changed it from using a rope and having someone in the towed car, then they decided it had to be done with a solid bar meaning essentially nobody had to be in the towed car to make it more "trailer" like and now they've decided you cant do that either. The law is if theres wheels on the ground its governed by the same laws as any other car (i wonder if you could get away with it if you had four of them little cradle things with tiny wheels on them for each wheel, what are they called?!?! Technically the cars wheels wouldnt be on the road, see...always thinking!)
Aside from that i do believe if its being towed for a pre-booked MOT test then that is fine and third party cover is provided by the vehicle which is towing the car (providing of course that car has valid full comp insurance which covers it for towing (check it first, some policies dont include this) and the driver has a licence entitling them to tow also) so the towed car itself doesnt need anything....
Hi i think the clutch release bearing has gone on the dam ford ka due to it making a strange rattling noise when the clutch is pressed. My question is if i can live with the noise is it ok to leave it, or will this damage something else in the long run, thanks Paul. Read more
ok thanks for that.
Can any body help? My 1999 golf starts easily every morning but after about 3 miles it starts to stutter and sometimes stalls even if you're driving at a steady speed. Also, as soon as the fuel tank gets below a quarter full it will lose power and stop with no warning lights on every journey after about the same length of time. The accelerator pedal just seems to have no effect. I then have to leave it for about 30 seconds before trying to restart it. It starts again with no problem. I have had the fuel pump and sender unit replaced, (problem could have started after this but can't be sure), I have had the fuel filter changed, I have had the earths checked, I have had the breather from the fuel tank checked, I have had the MAF sensor replaced, I have had the ECU removed and tested twice with no faults showing. I don't want to spend any more money without it solving the problem. Can any one advise what could be wrong? Read more
I have exactly same problem and symptoms on my 98 model, only thing I can suggest is the full tank filler cap holes are blocked. Mine seems intermittant, my next move is the spark leads, but my gut feeling is fuel problem. Also mine seems to stop as if out of fuel, so I add a bit and the car starts as normal, so it must be a breather problem thinking about it, can you let me know if you resolve it and i'll do likewise.
I was going to be buying a Ford Fusion on Saturday - subject to new MOT.
I have had a quick squizz at the VOSA mot database as i have a copy of the V5 and most recent MOT provided by the seller.... Read more
Spoke to dealer and without any need for cajouling offered up the details of the MOT fail and that the shocks have been replaced.

If the other driver was happy to leave things as they were, then I really wouldn't worry about it any further. You had offered your details, if the other driver declines then that is out of your control; you aren't going to force them on her. Was the premises covered by CCTV? If so, evidence is available that you stopped and spoke to the other driver, and if you were reversing out of a space at the time of impact then the other party would presumably have had to move their vehicle before you could leave the scene, so any suggestion that you fled would clearly be false.
It can be a worrying time if you have a bump, and the relief from finding that the other driver is amicable and happy not to go any further can quickly turn to this sort of concern, about what would happen ' if....... ' - but the simple fact is that you behaved in a perfectly reasonable manner, and there is little for the other driver to gain by turning hostile at a later date; the police are only too aware of how much some people will try it on when it comes to insurance claims, and it doesn't look good if somebody suddenly has an urge to report something days after it took place!...
