I've been having a problem with the gear linkage on my 52 plate Xsara Picasso for just over a month now.
First of all I lost my gears whilst on a dual carriageway and most recently whilst changing up from 2nd to 3rd.... Read more
hi yes iam female with no male willing to help, i got a fiesta 1996 zetec and got to change cam belt what do i need n how do i do it, thanks pam. Read more
Pam, as Sumpnut quite rightly says this is no job for a beginner. None of the pulleys on this engine are keyed to the shafts, instead they are all fully floating. This means that the use of special tools is essential. If you try to do the job without using them you will get it wrong. Also you must not operate the starter motor with any of the pulleys loose. If you do then internal damage will occur.
Removing the timing cover is also very fiddley on this engine. You have to remove it with the engine mounting at the same time, which means you must place a jack under the engine with a block of wood (to prevent damage to the sump) so you can raise the engine up and down to suit. You need to remove the rocker cover so that you can use a special tool to lock both camshafts together in the correct place. You will need another tool which screws into the crankcase which will lock the crankshaft when No1 piston is at TDC. Only when the locking tools are in place must you loosen the pulleys. With all the pulleys loose the belt can be rotated but because they are floating the shafts will remain still....
First post here, please be gentle.
This will seem like a bit of a rant but please consider very carefully prior to purchasing a new Citroen. My 2009(MY) C5 has had three manufacturer recalls and returns for warranty repairs well into double figures. The car has done about 25000miles. Citroen UK after an initial Gesture of Goodwill when the vehicle was less than 1 year old have been nothing but obstructive and recent correspondence has seemed to be deliberately obtuse, not directly addresssing my ongoing issues. I see no resolution in sight and am resigning myself to an unreliable car with nothing but basic warranty backup. Thankfully as it is a contract hire vehicle I will be returning it next year. An experience nevr to be repeated.... Read more
I don't really see the problem here. You've got a car with a handful of minor issues, all of which appear to have been dealt with via recalls and warranty work? Yes it's inconvienient to be going into the dealers all the time, yes it's annoying, and I can understand why you're fustrated.
However, this list of minor issues could happen with any car. Substitute Citroen for BMW or Mercedes or whatever and nobody would be surprised. If I had a pound for every person I'd heard say "I'm never buying one of X again..." Where X can be literally any manufacturer you can think of......

Wow, thanks a million guys! I've been getting "Low Turbo Boost Pressuer" (code P0299) along with clouds of black smoke and was starting to have nightmares about the cost of a new turbo. Then I read about the splitting of the rubber pipe, took it off and it had a huge split underneath! My Ford dealer wanted £48 plus VAT so I sourced a silicon one on the "Well-known Auction site" for just over £30 with free delivery. Mike.

HI there folks,
I was just wondering how other people's economy differed from mine. I know it varies with manufacturer/gearing etc.... but on a 200 mile commute - typically what range of mpg should I be looking at with a 2.0 litre petrol?... Read more
I didnt want to start a new thread,
I've heard internet stories about the autobox in mazda 6 being problematic after around 100k miles. All of these were based on the jatco autobox though.
My question - how reliable is the autobox on my model/year of car? is it mazda in-house or jatco?
Any help much appreciated, Thanks

Bought 08/08, 2 years old full dealer service history. 18,000miles Clutch Failed; Water Leak into boot floor/spare wheel well - tool kit rusted; Water Pump failed; Front Discs & Brake Pads "80% worn" and need replacement next service; Rear Brakes, same; Exhaust blowing - front and back box need replace next service. Drive train, gearbox and gearchange awful. Without doubt the worst car we've ever owned. Got rid after 6 months. Handled well and good seats etc but just badly made in the Czech Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen Factory. Read more
Not sure if its called the urban model, but the base model 107 has higher insurance costs with some companies than more luxury models due to the lack of head rests on the back seats.
Any accident no matter how minor with passengers in the back of the basic 107, results in higher than average claims compared to the rest of the range....
Hi All. I have just had a vehicle come into stock which appears to have a gearbox fault. It is a 2002 Focus 1.6 LX Automatic. 86k miles. It will not pull away in first gear, only second gear. Even if you move the selector to '1', it still pulls away in second. Also, the 2-3 change is a bit harsh and it doesnt seem to find a fourth gear. I've only taken it for a short (4 mile) test drive so far. Any pointers much welcomed. Is it likely to be a solenoid issue, a control (ECU) issue or the 'box itself? And is it best to fit a known good replacement unit or have this one repaired?? Many thanks...... Read more
Just to confirm, the codes are P0755, P0765 & P0770. These all refer to solenoid circuit failure, rather than 'malfunction'. Getting more convinced it could be ECU or external wiring. Anyone else experienced these codes??
