59 reg car - why can't number plate check find? - silverback

Trying to check up on a possible purchase of a car (not by or for me) via several of the many websites offering free checks but at the initial enquiry no one seems to have any details.

car is carrying a reg of type GX59... (wont give full reg) registered in February 2010 so why cant I find it? also tried to get an insurance quote and that won't pull in the details from the registration.

Could there be a genuine reason or is there smething dodgy. I'm checking for someone else but my inclination is to just walk. Could it be a re-registration or something?

also the website advert I was shown shows what it SAYS is the same vehicle but with a registration of BFZ plus 4 numbers. Is this a Northern Ireland Belfast registration.

Could a vehicle have both a Northern Ireland and a GB registration? and why would it need to be re-registered

It may have come in from NI, or the previous owner may have had a NI 'personalised plate' on it. Sounds like the dealer has re-registered it to a normal UK style number.

When I bought my car, it took a while before the various sites recognised it under its new number.

If you want to HPI it, the best way is with the chassis number
