Came back this morning from the local Ford dealer (a Rapdfit branch) and while I was waiting to be served the chap in front of me asked the parts counter for a pair of Aero blade wipers for his Focus, when they asked for £41 I must admit my jaw dropped instantly, as I just ordered a pair of Bosch flat retrofit wipers two days ago from a famous motor factor.

I get mine from "every lttle helps" £4 each, one 22" the other 20" and change them twice a year. Once before car goes in for service to avoid "we've changed your wiper blades scenario" Well... put them back they were new last week! My air filter is easy to change, so do that before service too, and wait for the invoice. I quite enjoy the discussions that follow!

My TDCi has just had to have the fuel tank drained and lines cleared due to water in the diesel. Most of it will have been bought in Poole, Dorset. Has anybody else had a similar problem recently?

The Shell Garage, Darby's Corner Poole is currently being rebuilt with new tanks. Anybody know if there is a connection?... Read more

Please use the other 'water in fuel' thread above if you'd like to contribute. One thread is enough on the same subject, and obviously more help to the original poster..

Can any one please help give some advise on my micra. It was running fine one day the next died. Breakdown guy added fuel to air intake and car ran for 10 seconds then stopped. Mobile mechanic called and carried out diagnostic and produced fault codes P0003e and p0007e. Fuel regulator volume control and fuel shut off valve. He changed the fuel reg as this seemed to be the indicator as there is good sparks at plugs.( on the fuel rail) but with no luck. Should I now spend another £ 130 plus on fuel shut off (does any body know location of this) . Don't know if its worth that much more money?

Would appreciate some advice. Thanks.in advance.... Read more

IMO it's not just councils gouging the motorist with parking charges...though thats a large part of it. It's just their whole motorist hating ethos. One way, traffic calming, officious wardens, spy camera cars, cctv fines etc. Too much hassle. Far easier and free to go to out of town shopping centres.

Well from what I've been hearing finally councils are realising they've killed off the golden goose. And I don't think Mary Portas' Dell boy future ideas will help much. Read more

Preston isn't too bad for parking - I don't begrudge £2 all day, free after 6. That's possibly why it's still going - it's always busy.

Lancaster is not so good but I used to live right in the middle so never parked anywhere but near my house....

I am not a great fan of German styling which is one of the reasons I have steered clear of the small versions of the big 4. However, the announcement that the new Merc "A" class would move away from the mini MPV styling tempted me, as I pictured it as a smaller "C" class which is probably my favourite among the German rivals. I can also get some good deals on Mercs through the family. However, after seeing the spy shots, this car is unlikely to be gracing my drive any time soon. Maybe it will look better when finally launched but it looks like a typical Euro box with nothing in common with its larger stablemetes. A bit dissapointing as I was underwhelmed with the Audi A1 styling as well.

Oh well, back to the Far east! Read more

I always thought the original A Class was very neat looking, apart from the slightly awkward rear window styling.

The second version of the A Class looked a bit like one of the original type that had been dropped 20 feet!...
