HI
I have just had a full set of pads and new exhaust fitted and now I get a warning come up ESP not functioning. On my Citroën C5 2004 Estate 2ltr
I have taken it back to the mechanic and he cannot find the fault. He said he had it put on a diagnostics machine the machine said steering angle sensor problem. He says he doesn't know where the sensor is or how to cure the fault.
Can anyone suggest what the problem could be and how to correct it.
Thank You
As SWMBO is on duty at our local hospital over christmas a plea not to drink and drive, and also if you are out with your friends, make sure everyone gets home safe. Recently had a case of a young lady in sleeveless dress drunk asleep in someones garden on a very cold night.
Sorry to sound like an old codger,,,,,... Read more
That ain't drunk if she could walk...never mind find her own way home! Drink and drive don't mix at all, I have no sympathy with anyone who does.
Hi all,
I have a 2008 2.5 CDTI automatic. I have had a few problems with the automatic control in that it occassionally fails to change gear properly. It will quite suddenly not change from 1st to 2nd, it just fails to engage the clutch. Other times it could be 3rd gear it it may get stuck in neutral. Once it faults the only action is to turn it off and wait 30s or so and try again. This only seems to happen when its wet on the road. Could it be related to electrical connections getting wet?... I was walking along a back street in Tewkesbury when a marked van passed slowly by markings indicated ANPR. and what was different about it it had 4 cameras one at each corner. The usual vans have a window at the rear with camera inside and are stationary at roadsid, what came into my mind was checking for untaxed/sorned vehicles, hence camera at each corner. Read more
As RT said if you are law abiding nothing to worry about.
On our street there are 2 builders who never tax their vans when they are due, one ran out last month, annoys the hell out of me. One guy on the street never sells his old cars, just keeps them on the drive, bet his 1988 Nova which is now covered in moss is not on SORN or insured. Family at end of street run an S type Jag for the summer and a Ford Explorer for the winter, both have same plate, wonder if they really pay £80 twice a year to transfer the plate, keep meaning to look at the tax disk as I walk past....
can any one help with ecu problem i have???
car 2000 vauxhall vectra 2.0 cdx estate
the problem
engine management light comes on when the car is ticking over but
goes out when moving, when pulling away from standstill the car has a
quite significant flat spot also if i turn on the heater when the
car is idling the revs drop and the car almost stalls, i've taken
the car to my local garage and his computer says the maf has a low
reading,i have replaced the maf with a brand new siemens unit but the
fault remains and the computer is giving the same low reading the
garage owner says it is probably a ecu problem but he can't be sure
there is no problem starting the car from cold or warm and the only
fault showing up is the problem with the maf
has anybody any idea where the problem lies
also can anybody tell me where the ecu is located in the car

Used car trade-in values are plummeting due to low volumes, low turnover and high used car stocks. Apparently what is happening is dealers are offering customers substantially below book price and increasing their profit margin when the car is sold on their forecourt.
The reason apparently is to ensure dealership profit margins are maintained due to low volumes/turnover & high used car stocks at this time of year. Also more aggressive hard selling are being fronted by some used car dealers to try to get customers to purchase a car ASAP such is the desperation of dealers to sell cars.... Read more
Tell your F in L to sell on Autotrader, get a lump knocked off what he wants to buy & enjoy a damn good drink at Christmas (& the rest of the year!) on the proceeds :)
I mentioned Autotrader to him - I don't think he believes me! I might take it off him at Audi dealership prices and sell it on....!! ;-)

I had it on my Passat after having a new driveshaft gaiter fitted.
I think the steering knuckle had been jarred a few times getting the lower ball joint off & that had managed to loosen the ABS sensor. It had worked its way less than a few mm out of its position in the knuckle & caused the ABS to kick in at low speed, just as comming to a stop. Pushing the sensor back in those few mm cured the problem.
