An Hdi engine in reasonably good condition should start without the glow plugs, my 200,000 mile 406 does even in -C temperatures but the engine needs to be turned over fairly fast, how old is your battery. Another problem could be the in tank fuel pump.

Hi All,

I've had this Scenic (2004 2.0 petrol) for a couple of months now. It's always made a noise from the engine compartment which is best described as a faint honk, or squeak with a period of about 1-2 seconds. ... Read more

As already mentioned the alternator belt slipping could be the cause although normally it only does it when you first start from cold but if its very slack it could be doing it all the time.

Sorry - I suffered an edit gremlin.

I bought my Hyundai from NCD 18 months ago, which was at the time a model update was happening. They were very much more knowledgable about the detail changes than the dealers I went to. The deal was unbeatable, and the trade in price they gave was business-like....

I Have fitted reversing sensors to my Puma and need to fit the wireless display unit that comes with the reversing sensors, somewhere around the dash area. The display unit only has two wires that need to be connected to a live and presumably a neutral connection but I am struggling to find a suitable and accessable source that is switched off when the ignition is off.

I would appreciate any help/suggestion about where I can take a power supply from.

I recently purchased a new Volvo. When I signed the contract the car had only 2km on it. I was up sold on a fifth dimension paint/leather/everything protection.

A full MB service history means absolutely nothing look in the service book and see when the Air filter was last replaced or better still have a look yourself very easy job.I have just bought a e class 220cdi for use in the UK although a full service history the air filter was black bright it was date stamped probably the original a new filter and the cars consumption increased by 6mpg and I also cleaned the EGR valve another 2mpg most of the DB agents in the UK that I have come across are pathetic would be bankrupt in a month if they offered the same quality of service in Germany.

Hi - I picked up my new X Trail from the dealership 2 weeks ago. I stupidly didn't check round it, but then when i was taken to the car and handed the keys, it was jammed between 2 other cars in the dealership car park - I had to duck under the wing mirrors to get to the door! I did think I had checked round it later but then yesterday spotted a couple of small dents, that would've been easy to miss unless you looked at it at a certain angle. I've hardly driven it and is parked safely in my drive when i'm at home. I wondered whether they could've been there when i picked it up and should i try to go back to the dealership and ask, or would they just try to wriggle out of it? Please could you advise on this or let me know of your similar experiences. Read more

I live in the Scottish Borders so there isn't a great choice for dent removal - filled in a chipsaway enquiry online, so will see if they want to come here! My partner upgraded my previous X Trail as a xmas present so am really upset that this has happened. Also - my previous X Trail - a 60 plate - also had a similar dent i discovered 2 weeks after I bought it whilst washing it - i just ignored it but was a bit miffed as again, I hadn't been anywhere really. To add to the story, I had taken it in for a service at end of october and when it came back, something was wrong with steering - i.e. it wouldn't steer round tight corners - not great for a 4x4 and roads near us are all country roads with tight corners! Took it back but the dealers couldn't find anything wrong. Just for the record too, i also had all 4 wheels replaced due to corrosion! New car is great, apart from dents. Will be going somewhere else for service! Thank you for your replies.
