10 seconds to find this:

"The discounted price on some of the brand new UK registered cars that are supplied by us has been achieved by being originally "Fleet Registered". In some circumstances this means that the V5 (known as the "registration document" or "logbook") will show you recorded as the second keeper. In these circumstances we will retain the V5 for a period between 2 to 6 months from the original registration date (depending on the manufacturer/supplier). The V5 will then be forwarded on to you directly from the DVLA once the relevant period has elapsed."

Warning bells immediately ring for me, advice is to avoid companies which do this.

Try drivethedeal if you are looking for a new car and don't have a trade in.

Is it worth the savings (if any) not to have the log book with all the pit falls this could bring.

Sorry - I suffered an edit gremlin.

I bought my Hyundai from NCD 18 months ago, which was at the time a model update was happening. They were very much more knowledgable about the detail changes than the dealers I went to. The deal was unbeatable, and the trade in price they gave was business-like.

I collected my car on its 1st day of registration, and all was absolutely correct. They did exactly what they said they would, I would go there again. The V5 came a couple of months later as promised (albeit with a clerical error that DVLA corrected). The car was registered to a fleet company for the 1st day of its life.

However I am guarded as I understand that they do have to retain the V5 documents for certain periods on other car makes, which would worry me and also might give some insurance concerns.

walk away from anywhere where you don't get the registration document. NOT worth the legal hassles, and for not much more you can get the same deal via some of HJs suggested sites.
