I can smell a repeat of the Rover episode. Still, I don't expect the Chinese will get the name. Shame on GM for stuffing up Saab. I think Saab could have become a Swedish Morgan making the old 900, by hand to order, which it was before the GM based 900. Read more
To cut a long story short, my investigations into the sudden cessation of Central locking on this vehicle have ended up with me finding that the controlling ECU in the passenger footwell side panel is fried. Looks like a choke has expired, leaving just the central core remaining on the board(!)
Something of a not uncommon occurance it would seem.... Read more
Oh well, I went ahead anyway and here are my results for future reference.
Root cause turned out to be the wiring to the tail door. At some time in the past it had obviously become trapped. The wiring is unwrapped at this point in the loom to provide greater flexibility for the door operation, something of a mistake IMHO. Anyhow, the feed to the heated rear window and the earth were partially severed and had shorted across the rest of the loom, burning out the Central locking wires and toasting the lock ECU module. Oops....

Wich pump are we talking about, the lift pump in the tank or the high pressure pump - assuming this is a common rail engine?
The proposed motorway speed limit increase to 80mph should only apply to electric vehicles, according to energy secretary Chris Huhne.
Sounds to me like another ill thought out idea. Does this apply to hybrids like the Toyota Auris? You can only tell a hybrid Auris from the badge on the boot lid. Read more
The Lib Dems really are a joke, i have a fiver on them disbanding before the 2015 election. I feel the speed restriction for non car-derived-vans should be abolished, these limits were set in the mid 80s and your average Transit or Sprinter van is much more 'car like' now so i dont see why they should be restricted to 60 on a dual carraigeway.
And while we're at it, the speed limit categories throw up another bizarre question. Goods vehicles over 7.5tonnes are restricted to 60 for the motorway, but a Bus or a Coach (providing its no longer than 12 meters) can do 70. A standard single decker bus under 12 meters long is heavier than 7.5 tonnes when fully laden, over 10 i'd say but its not affected....

Prelude VTi: Very Best of Matt Munro. Hasn't been switched on much this year.
XJS: Frank Sinatra compilation. Beach Boys compilation. French cafe music compilation. Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames compilation. Jazz compilation. Tape: Ron Goodwin compilation. Only gets switched on when I'm cleaning or tinkering about with it and the hood is down.

Hi guys please can I get some advice.... Read more
Hi there!
I'm a newbie so forgive my knowledge !
I need some advice as to what to expect for being arrested for a drunken crash I have had.Basically I crashed my beloved seat Leon into a traffic light pole after downing 4 cans of Speciel brew and lost control and hit it.
I was kept within the car by 2 members of the public(and quite rightly so) but when the police arrived apparently I swung for one of the guys who trapped me in the car to which I was duly taken to the floor and handcuffed .
I gave a reading of 104 and pleaded guilty straightaway( obviously) fully co operated after the incident it is a first time motoring offence in 23 years of driving and ive been a TOTAL ASS in doing this stupid thing and I am a clinical depressive and an alcoholic and have never even attempted to drive before whilst drinking, I'm up in court soon and have hired a brief(yet to meet/speak)
But I need to know what punishment I should expect?
My life is in ruins and just don't know what to do:-(
only half the message did not go on first time, a friend flushed the system out and filled it with the correct vw g12 coolant,on inspection at first there was no signs of a leak any where, the reason i asked my friend to have a look was because after the first top up the water in the expansion tank was a dirty greyish black, but when it was flushed through there was no signs of any dirt, only done 63,000 miles, there also is a lack of oomph that was there before, any ideas people. That would also account for your loss of coolant. Look around the filler cap and overflow pipe for signs of dry antifreeze. If you place the end of the overflow pipe in a receptical you will be able to see if its being blown out.
My central locking and alarm are not working either with the remote or when using the key.
Problem started after using the internal door lock button (on the drivers door).... Read more
Sorted! Was a blown fuse 30A in the fuse box by the steering wheel.
The internal door lock switch is blowing it though - see other thread
