Hi, I've recently been involved in a road traffic collision with another vehicle which also involved damage to a roadsign. The insurance cover for the traffic collision is fine but i've just received a letter from the local council telling me that I have to pay for the damage to their roadsign. Am I covered under my car insurance for these damage payments or will I have to pay for the damaged roadsign out of my own pocket? Can anyone help?

- Agreed. Your insurance covers all third partys, so just give your letter to your insurers. They will deal with it. Sleep easy
I have recently experienced a permenant loss of power at low speeds and all through the rev range. At higher speed and when have momentum the acceleration feels much better but I can't be completely sure of whether it is still down on previous performance.I have self diagnosed it to be the turbo not kicking in but I am very much the novice so may be completely wrong. I have no loss of fuel economy nor any other signs of smoke other then the usual diesel puffs.
It goes in for a service in a weeks time so hopefully they will advise me then but I want to prepare myself for them telling me some bad news. Please help... Read more
I would concur.
Help all focus drivers?
I'm looking to purchase a focus automatic and struggling to decide which engine to go for.
1) 1.6 petrol are very common and well priced even for 2010 & 11 models. However reviews are saying this is underpowered and should be avoided at all costs?
2) 2.0 petrol has more grunt than the 1.6 but at the expense of mpg And i believe uses the same four speed autobox?
3) 2.0 TDcI has plenty of grunt, powershift autobox and better mpg. However these tend to be about £3-4K premium on the price.
I'll probably being doing 10K miles per annum and a mix of A-roads and motorway driving.
Any advice would be appreciated

Not sure it's helpful but we really like our 10yr old 1.6 Zetec Focus estate auto. This engine size seems just right for the car - the auto responds v quickly on kickdown and it's happy at, er, normal motorway speeds! Good economy as well - about 40mpg.
i have air in my fuel line and full tank of fuel any ideas fuel pump seems to be pumping ok Read more
If you disconnect the fuel line from the filter does it push fuel out?
For those that may be interested, I noticed whilst in ASDA this morning that they are running their 5 litre of own brand oil for £10 again. They are also doing 2.5 litres of concentrated screen wash, which is normally £1.95 a time, on a 3 for £3 deal. Read more

Just been to look at one of these, well finished, up tp the quality of the mg6, didn't get a test drive as licence not with me. toyota engines, impressed with drivers seating, but not much space behind, rear seatback almost vertical, boot ok for shopping but not much more, at 6000 ish for the 1.3 would definitely consider for tootling around town. saw some of the other models too, very interesting, The Chinese ARE coming,
Not sorry to say but prefer the veelux to the punto, clio, peugot 208 and the overpriced toyota auris, much more room than a corsa, seating position better than an astra!
I have been self employed but recently signed on for JSA as I had virtually no work since the new year with no sign of improvement. My insurance came up for renewal a couple of weeks later an so I got a renewal notice through, however I thought I should inform the insurance company that I was claiming JSA. Result is it now costs me 40% more to insure the car! Went on the money saving websites but no cheaper.
I pay for the insurance annually, have the mileage caped at 6000 (I do around 5000 in the car) and insured for domestic and leisure purposes (no commuting or business use).... Read more
A few months ago the company I worked for went into liquidation. Being in my late 50s I am struggling to get interviews let alone another job. When my insurances came up for renewal recently I advised the companies of the change of status. The reactions could not have been more different - the company I have a classic car policy with said it would make no difference whilst for my daily driver they initally came back with a hike of over 50%. Eventually they came back with the original premium.
It seems to me that in recent years premiums are often based on what they can get out of you with minor changes causing premiums to be hiked. Changing groups seems to make little difference. It seemed much easier when I first started driving when my local broker looked up the group and went to various charts with group vs age for the premium and then applied the NCB.
I have a problem thats worrying me,.
I was driving down an dual carriageway A road at speed varying between 43 and 40 miles per hour, most people drive faster than me on this road. the speed limit is 40 in this particular stretch,.... Read more
If it's just a speed gun, then they must stop you there and then and show you the speed off the gun itself. If it has a camera attached to it (which means tripod mounted or in a van), then you can get the ticket in the post.
