Hello all,

Over the past couple of days I have noticed that my steering has been very sluggish on my Vauxhall Astra MK4 G 2001. At first I thought it was the tyres were just low on pressure, but they were fine. The steering became worse and worse, very sluggish, almost delayed steering.... Read more

UPDATE - I took the car to my local garage, and spoke to a friend who works there about the problem. He plugged his KTS machine (I think) into the system and ran the diagnostics check. It found nothing. So the error codes arent stored, but are showing up when I do the pedal test.

The steering is worse than ever, It seems to be pulling to the left whilst driving, and pulling to the right when braking. The braking is loose, soft and horrible. Any suggestions??

Did anybody see Panorama last night 'The Great Fuel Robbery' mostly about the trading of illegal petrol and diesel in the UK. The footage from a backstreet Belfast petrol station showing cabbies filling up on 86.9p diesel and some of the seizures by HMRC were quite staggering.

Those in the UK can watch it here www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b016bycy/Panorama_Th.../... Read more

The only choice would be to leave the EU

Good. Do it. Get on with it. The public wants out of it and Cameron knows that which is why they went in Whip heavy to beat down any resistance to a referendum on it because they know the British public, if given the choice to tick a box with 'Leave EU' written beside it would do just that.

Although all we really want is to stop letting the EU interfear with British law, they shouldnt have any slightly small thing to do with us. I didnt vote for any of these bureaucrats in Brussells and the only vote any of us can make to get rid of them is for UKIP as the three (two i suppose now) main parties have bottled it when it comes to Europe. Europe will be what rips the Tory party to shreds once again as it was last time round. An electorate which wants to be free of EU Stalin-esque rule cannot vote for the main parties, none of them are willing to take on the issue. Gutless spineless and useless. They're all petrified of talking about immigration as well but thats a topic for another thread....

Hi. I am from South Africa, bought a Peugeot 206 2005 model from a dealership in July 2010. SInce then i have endless problems, which, i must say, a lack of assistance was forthcoming from the said dealership. i believe that i was sold a defect car in that the clutch kit broke not even three months after buyin it. NO proof of COR was given to me, or repairs that was done when i sent it in for the service, where there was a heating / cooling problem, then the cylinder head blew, exhaust was broken, geear linkage broken, manifold gaskit cracked..i dont even know how much more faults this car must have. Please advise me what else to do as i am still paying the car off and will lose out if i sell it now. these cars are not safe for a female and i want a mechancial explanation as to how soon cars like these fall apart. it is only doing 140 000 kms and the cylinder head blew. iv never even driven this car fast for these things to break in this car. Welcome to the forum I'm not sure how much help we can be to you unless anyone is aware of the sale of goods legislation in SA. In the UK you would have to establish that the defects were there when you bought the car, which is likely in the case of the clutch but probably not the other problems.

The most likely explanation is that the car was abused or neglected (or both) by the previous owner(s). French cars are generally more vulnerable than most to abuse: there are lots of Japanese cars in SA and you're probably best advised to go for one of those next time.

Is the worst company I’ve ever used they took my tech tronic gearbox and broke it done a bad repair instead of replacing the broken part then sent it back to me when I see the damaged part I contacted the company manager who then denied they broke it or done a bad repair and refused to fix this issue or issue a full refund they also said I caused the damage myself they are criminals do not use this company unless you want to be ripped off and have to scrap your car in the end. DO NOT TRUST THEY ARE THEIVES AND LIARS.

Hi everyone.. I've owned a toyota yaris verso since year 2000 and would love to know just how many of these cars were manufactured. It was a very short run and many of these cars were used as mobility cars. resulting in low mileage, so i think that in the future this vehicle could become a collector's item..So if some enthusiast out there like me has this information i would be most greatfull...Many thanks in advance Les Thorley.... Welcome to the forum, Les, and I'm sorry you were annoyed by some of the comments on a car which seems to have served you well. The Yaris Verso - functional, perhaps, rather than being built for style - deserved to do better in terms of sales. Maybe it was ahead of its time. The more recent Fiat Doblo, similarly functional, has done rather better, as have the Citroen Berlingo / Peugeot Partner and Renault Kangoo.

The all in one exhaust manifold/catalytic converter on my z10xe has got a hairline crack about 6cm long to the right hand side of the lambda sensor. This is not blowing at all and the engine sounds completely the same as always. I only discovered it because i was changing the heatshield that had rotted round the bolt holes and i dont know how long its been there. The crack looks fairly old as it is rusty . If it is not blowing, will it be ok to keep driving the car with the crack and is it likely to pass an MOT if i put the heatshield back on and forget about it? Will it survive the winter or will it get bigger? I am a student and really cant afford a new cat if i can get away with it. Read more

1litregolfeater

it may well fail the MOT if the crack is leaky enough to draw in appreciable volumes of air, as this will disturb the lambda reading.

I wouldn't worry about it of it's running ok, if it does fail, you could get it welded or just clamp on a plate you can make in your shed, out of a biscuit tin with some aluminium foil and exhaust sealant, attached with jubilee clips....

Hi,

I have a Focus that struggles to start first thing in the morning. It does start eventually but makes a horrible noise.

It starts fine afterwards for the rest of the day though.

Any ideas what could be wrong ?

Thanks ! Read more

If it's making a clattering, banging noise with vibration through the clutch pedal it could be the DMF (dual-mass flywheel) failing, which is known to occur on this model.

If it's just slow starting, posibly the glow plugs are tired/kaput, or the battery is on the way out? ...

My 'new' car is a Mk 1 (2004 model) Seat Leon 1.9 TDI FR 150hp, 1 owner, 52k miles and FSH.

I decided to buy an older diesel to avoid problems with DPFs and the later piezo injectors fitted to VAG diesels. The 1.9TDI also seems to be a fairly fuel-efficient diesel.... Read more
