01 plate V70 T3 2.3. Today the engine management light came on and a message Reduced Performance and the car went into limp mode big time. I was not far from my son's house so called in and we investigaged using a MacTools code reader. "Throttle Position Sensor Switch A" then a crash code for the ECU to force the car inro limp mode.
We reset this and the car was fine. I drove back home but 2 miles later the error re-appeared. I popped into my local Bosch independant but the guy in know as not there. However when I returned to the car the fault had cleared itself, so I drove time, another 2 or 3 miles and parked up. My question is can these throttle position sensors be cleaned or is it a replacement job. Regards Peter Read more
Its a well documented problem with throttle bodies on Volvo's. In the states Volvo have had to honour replacements at almost any age.
Out of interest have you tried washing the throttle body out clean as sometimes because the throttle doesnt shut totally it throws it into limp mode as the switch doesnt see the idle position. This is an issue with some vauxhalls as well....

If the whine is coming from the gearbox it should change in intensity/frequency depending on the gear you are in and if its the first motion shaft bearing it will stop when you push the clutch out.
If its a wheel bearing it will increase in intensity when cornering in one direction and reduce in the other.
Please confirm the TYPE that applies to my vehicle from the following 2 types.
DM2 1997ccm 100 kW BJ.: 09.2003 DXA 1997ccm 100 kW BJ.: 02.2011 Ford confirm that my CMax 2.0L TDCI first registered in February 2010 is 1997ccm 100kW but they do not know what the DM2 or DXA or BJ designations stand for and they do not know if the Dates at the end of each line are Models/Types up to the dates or from the dates. When I go into the Mytyres website and select Complete Wheels and put in the Manufacturer then the Model it then asks for the Type of vehicle. This is where the information came from. The 2003 calls out wheels with a tyre profile of 205 and the 2011 calls out 215. I am just trying to determine the correct Type designation for my vehicle. Attending Uni in Balfast/Jordanstown, with a reasonable train connection to our home town.
And when I took the children off the Galaxy insurance on Monday, that netted me a £1000.00 "cashback" (for the 6months left) however to put them on the Octavia would have been £1400.00 for the 11.5 months remaining.

This passed me by at the time, so apologies if it's been covered before: here's a link to Fifth Gear's test of V-Power and Ultimate diesel versus ordinary supermarket stuff, using a newish Citroen C5 2.2 as the testbed (4 minute video clip).
Both the premium fuels gave 161bhp compared with 155 on the ordinary stuff. What WAS upsetting was that V-Power and Ultimate were 100.9 pence per litre at the time :-/... Read more

Ling is showing cars from £396 deposit followed by 35 X £132.
As Tony says, if you can't raise the deposit the finance co will take the view you won't be making the monthly payments
