About 18 months ago I was rear-ended by a van on the way to work. The damage to my car was not extensive and I followed process and reported it to my insurer. They 'appointed' Helphire, who provided me with a vehicle of similar spec while mine was being repaired. They also provided a secondary policy which said I would not be liable for any charges even if the case was lost for some reason.
Anyway, the third party's insurers have refused to pay up - the defendant has even denied liability (his statement seems a bit of a joke, but nonetheless he's attempting to blame me for the collision by denying some of the facts) - and it's ended up at the Small Claims Court.... Read more

Only if it's been serviced to manufacturer's specifications.
As its coming up to renewal time, can anybody help with a question regarding legal services, normally added to premiums.
I have in the past bought this as a separate item rather than the offer from the insurer, which can save about £ 25 from the renewal.
( Indeed HJ offers it through the site. )
I've never had to use it, but if I did would there be any difference in the service provided ? I'm a bit worried that a seperate company could be a profit hungry outfit, such as a claims management company that would put its interests first.
However would the service from the insurance provider be any different ?
Any views, perhaps from those who have recent experience ? Read more
I don't think there would be any difference. I have heard that car insurers buy the policies "In Bulk" for a minimal sum and sell them on @ £25 a pop. Why worry if an organisation is profit hungry? They will provide you with a service in return for your premium and whatever they make won't come out of your pocket!
Hi, When I collected a nearly new car (9 months old / 5000 miles on clock) from the local BMW dealership at the weekend, having agreed the sale and put down a deposit for a few weeks ago, I found that it had been driven an additional 600 miles since the test drive.
Can the dealer do this? Do I have any recourse? Should I complain - am going to look like a serial complainer because I've already taken them to task about being economical with the truth about the cost of a loan - when telling me about the loan, which I agreed to take out, they neglected to mention the hefty arrangement fees (over £300)... I,m inclined to agree with Robin, the readings suggest iether a lazy oxy sensor or lazy cat, but first a good hard drive, i.e. long steep incline in low gear making it really work hard to burn off the cat !
If you can get access to an infared handheld thermometer , you need to get the car hot & whilst still running point the temp sensor at the front of the cat and the rear neck of the CAT. there should be 50 degree temp difference at least with it being hotter at the rear, if not this would suggest the cat has done its bit !
I have collected the car tyres prices for the most popular sites that sell tyres online.
The prices are collected from a variety of tyre comparison sites.
I am looking to find the sites which offer cheap tyres and will try to update it once a month.
I can not guarantee absolute accuracy since I am using other service providers and sites to display those prices and have to rely on their accuracies.
So please just use as a general guideline.
I have identified the site with the best prices first and only for a selection of brands and models since it is only to give you an idea of what prices for tyres to expect and you would need to do some more research for your exact brand/model/tyre sizes.
Hope it helps.

As request I have update the car tyres prices to include the exact date for the changes. Will also be exploring other site prices as well for cheap tyres.

Hi!
I'm Karoli from Hungary. My problem is the fan for air conditioning system not working on the first 3 speed. Only on the fastest (loudest, noisiest) mode. I found a circuit diagram, and there's a O030 part, which is controlling the speed of the fan. This must be the wrong part. But how can I change it? How can I disassemble it? Please help! Read more
Could this be because the standard cloth / alcantara sports seats on these models fray like b*****y where the seat belt goes across?
Both sides on my GT started going within a few months from new. However, VW won't replace the seats until the stitching has worn through.

If it is recorded there was fraying at 12 months old, you may have a case, although as per my other post

To be honest, having more thought on it, I really like the X-Trail. So i think that's what we're going to go for.
Cheers again...

The accident management companies usually only take on cases they are confident of winning.
As a back-up in case they don't win and can't recover their costs from the other side, they offer their customer (you) an insurance policy to cover the costs of the hire car....
