Toyota Yaris - Engine idling problem on cold starts. - Yaris Owner

I haven't had an ounce of bother with my 2003 Yaris D4D until now.

The engine really struggles to tick over when you first start it, its not smooth at all. It sounds like it tries to cut out like if you occluded the fuel flow almost, & jerks the car a bit. The problem is more prominent in the cold. The mechanic thought it might be the glow plugs as I have had previous engine management lights for this. Changing them hasn't solved the problem though & the garage had to strip the engine down (as the plugs snapped). They didn't notice any other problem with it.

Anybody else had this sort of problem or know what it could be? My car has 92000 miles on the clock.

Thanks.

EGR valve needs a clean?

Blocked air filter

Blocked fuel filter..

All easy to check.

Never heard of yaris plugs sticking before.

Hi mate, my 2003 D4D T3 diesel Yaris is currently doing this, it seemed to have appeared over this year and I've had it for 3 years with no bother. Just wondering if you managed to get a solution to the problem ? If you could let me know that would be great before I need to get my mechanic involved.

Cheers
