Had our Golf Plus from new, now nearly six years old, regularly serviced at main dealer or accredited garage and is running very well. Only problem - the heater/cooler switches off after 28 - 30 minutes, only works when blower switch manipulated and eventually on a long journey stops working altogether. Two VW accredited garages tested and said all was well. Third put more gas into the system but thought this unnecessary. Did it because he was out of ideas too. Has anybody else had this problem?

My FL2 has just had its second year service (28k) and the dealer has advised the rear pads are on their way out. The front ones are only half worn and therefore ok. I've never come across the rear pads going before the front. Is this normal for this vehicle? Read more

Hi Guys, hope someone can help. We have just swapped an Endura in our Focus, this is timing chain and belt and we have used the original pump and injectors as they were new 6 months ago. Ive done all the stuff, cashaft slot correct, pin in the pump and pin in for crank but no matter what she refuses to run, there is fuel at the injectors by the tanker load but she will only run on the naughty gas. Im beginning to think maybe there is a "coding" problem but if the immobiliser was not seeing the Bosch pump surely there would be no fuel up to the injectors??? This is driving me nuts, Ive tried withpout the pins as if it were No4 but its just the same. Can any kind soul throw any light on this, any clues would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Read more
In a car park or walking round do you ever look at other and ask yourself, would you swap?

I find the vast majority of cars boring and or unappealing, the endless rows of hatchbacks and crossovers no more attactive than the choices in washing machines, cloned to the nth degree and often downright ugly...Nissan Joke a prime example but there many others, Audi A1 now competing with Micra for ugly as sin, MB's banana shape and others complete with the arrow slit windows shaped in above the slab sides, Honda's latest ruinous blinging up of the previously simply handsome Accord, how on earth anyone can find them in the least attractive is beyond me.
There's only a handful of cars i'd currently swap my 15 year old Benz for....
Hi all, just new here , I have a 2000 3.0 l turbo diesel trooper, it was recalled 2 years ago for injectors, but never really ran perfect after this, however it has got to stage that its like its running on 3 cylinders now, however i had it back at main dealer last week for recall trottle position sensor, so i asked him to inspect same , he told me its one of the injector solenids, but stated this would not be covered by warranty, ? so i asked how much it would cost out of warranty he said around €1000 , I cant afford this, has anyone else had this problem, did isuzu sort it under warranty ? or is it something I can buy and replace myself, i know my round a car ?? all answers welcome thank you Read more
i got married last year, been married 9 months. my wife says she wants a divorce as she saw a picture of me kissing another girl (i owned up to it, it was before we got married). the house is in her fathers name and he brought it for cash outright. we have been doing the house up the past 18 months have have completely gutted it. she has put the majority of the money in through an inheritance off her grandad.
Most of the bills are in my name, gas elec etc.
can anyone advise legally where i stand? I am trying to save the marriage at the moment but would like to know worse case scenario where i stand financially.
The house was brought for £200k, wife put in around £60k and i put in approx £10k. I also spent 3 months full time doing it up.
The house is worth approx £400k now.
I am doing everything i can to try and get back with her so hopefully i wont need any of this advice but appreciated if someone could give an overview as to what would happen.
thanks Read more
Reading between the lines, it was before marriage but during the current relationship?
I'm not qualified in marriage guidance so I'll leave it at that.
Hi, just wondering if my experience of the second hand market in northern Ireland is typical or whether things are different in Britain. I'm in no hurry to buy but I've been keeping an eye on local dealers for a 2-3 year old petrol engined Mondeo sized car. I've almost decided I'm wasting my time because all the local dealers' stock is almost exclusively diesels in that bracket. In fact most of the dealers near me don't even bother stocking petrols in any bracket except performance models or very small cars.
Has it really reached the stage where the average second hand buyer isn't interested in petrols any more? ... Read more
I think that we in north Ireland are just into diesel much more than other parts of the uk and it must be part of our culture. Surely we invented the phrase 'Now we're sucking diesel'? Fact is so many - me included don't drive far enough to justify it anymore especially as the cars get more and more complex.

If you are saying that the aircon stops working and you have to fiddle with the flan switch, then get the fan switch and fan unit checked, as the aircon won't work unless the fan is on.
If the blower continues to work, but aircon no longer does, then contact an aircon specialist.HJ, in the GolfV review, reports of problems with the aircon compressor (though I had no problems with my 2005 Golf during 160k miles from new)
