Hi All, it would be great if I can have some impartial advise on a car I am about to buy.
The seller has stated that the car has no tax and that the transaction is to be done on a cash basis, he will not accept online transfer of payment as he is a taxi driver and doesn't want £4k plopping into his bank account due to tax reasons. Is this a plausible argument?... Read more
Nothing from the OP since Monday.
D'yer think we put him off buying it?
Is it possible to swap the front left and right tyres on a mk1 focus? The left one is more worn so I want to even out the wear. They are medium range marshall tyres. I would have thought you can change back and front but not on the same axle because of the tread direction. Read more
OK I think I will change them around. I think they are asymmetric, the next tyre down in the link is stated as directional. Might get some Vredestein Sportac 2 next as recommended in another thread.
The rear tyre must have a leaking valve as there are no objects in it. It goes down by 2psi a week before I pump it back up to 30 psi. Its been like that for nearly 2 years, but i agree it needs to be checked.
I have a 98 fiat scudo, when I try to start it it just turns over and over,I then towed it to bump start it,it started for a couple of seconds but would not rev up,I've changed the fuel filter but still won't start, any suggestions? Read more

My Mazda 2 is only 3 years old, 58 Reg. The bolts of both driver and passenger doors get rusty. Is it normal for a 3 years' old Mazda? My door has been repaired over a year ago, so I am not whether the bolts get rusty is related to the repair or not. Expert advice will be appreciated. Read more

Royal Mail dont pay themselves to send themselves mail obviously.
People think the postal service is a relic and on its way out but i dont agree. Its focus may have shifted from letters to parcels but its far from dead. With so much business happening online now if anything its made the postal service even more important. All that Amazoning, Ebaying, Play.coming etc we all do. People will always need hard copies of things for insurance reasons, people will always need parcels and packages etc...
Glow plug warning light not on and car fails to start, at same time VSA warning light on though system not switched off and trip computer clears. Fault intermittent past two weeks.
Dealer couldn't diagnose but replaced glowplug control unit/relay, costly but didn't solve problem. Similar problem under warranty 3 years ago so asked Honda UK for advice but to date no response. Impression that dealer and Honda not interested ... Read more
Hi,
I've got a 2003 Renault Scenic 1.4 (old shape), which is pulling to the left under medium braking.
Light braking, it's fine, heavy braking, it's fine, but under medium braking, it seems to dive down a bit at the front, along with wallowing off to the left.
The car continues on dead straight when not braking, so tracking etc seems OK.
The only issue I've been able to see is the right front wheel has about an inch and a half less clearance between the wheel arch and the tyre than the left. I thought that this was going to be the shock absorbers needing a replacement, but I've taken it to Kwik Fit who have checked the suspension, track rods etc, but haven't found anything - they acknowledge that there is a problem though and advised me to take to a main dealer - they want £85 for the diagnostic though!
Any ideas?
Thanks,
David

Had a similar problem on a Cortina-eventually turned out that one of the front wheels, which appeared identical, was in fact,a Capri wheel with a slightly different offset.

Whats 'premium excellium diesel' exactly? Is it somehow better than normal diesel?
Hi
I sold my vehicle in 2009 and for some reason the buyer became the owner of my private number plate and I ended up as a nominee. I originally paid for a 2 year retention and i have the V778 (retention document) where it states the Grantee as the buyer and me as the nominee. I have only today remembered that the retention may have expired and it has! the form states the expiry 03.06.2011. i dont know if I should have got a reminder or if the Grantee did. Iam desperate to keep the reg and I have been onto the dvla site where it states;
"if the retention document has run out, the grantee must return the document and appropriate fee with a letter explaining why the application is late. The request will be considered.
However I dont know if I the nominee can provide a reason or what that reason should be in order for it to be considered.
I would really appreciate someone on this forums help and advice on my next steps.
Many Thanks Read more
The reminder would have gone to the grantee, and only the grantee can renew. A helpful grantee would agree to change the address to yours, so that the letter arrives in the grantee's name but at least you can get it.
Assuming that the grantee will help you out, ring up the DVLA. If you say that you are the nominee, then they won't talk to you about the reg....

Unless you took out a third party bank loan which has already been advanced.
