I am having huge difficulties with Nissan regarding a fuel rail that I had replaced 16 months ago on my Pathfinder. About 6 months after having it fitted I experienced loss of power and took it back to my dealer. They told me that the fault code indicated a fuel rail problem again. When I told them the part was under warranty (12 months for the part - the vehicle itself was outside warranty), they changed their mind and said they made a mistake and there was no fault code (I know I was stupid not making more of it then).
Now, 16 months from the original replacement, I am getting the fuel rail fault code again and am faced with a £1,500 bill to repair. The dealer is understandably denying all knowledge of the original fault code and say they cannot check as all history on the computer has been deleted.... Read more

My 1998 uberwagen has disgraced itself by failing its MoT. My respected and highly experienced independent says it looks a very difficult job to get at but he'll have a go. Has anyone any tips I can pass on, please? [I'm not going to even think about trying it myself!] Read more

Hello all, and thanks for the forum, hope you can help me with some legal issues I'm experiencing right now.
I'm not familiar with how this forum works, I asked Honest John this question in anoither section but if it's okay I would like to know if there's someone here with any direct experience in this matter.... Read more
UK insurance only requires the vehicle to be roadworthy - not to have an MOT - but the problem you have is that by failing to disclose what you were actually doing would comprise failure to disclose a material fact and they could refuse to pay out anyway.
My guess is the chap who sold you the car has had it there close to six months and hence needed to dispose. The documents you have are probably enough to get you across most borders but may not stand up to a police check....
I bought my car off a man who let it sit on his drive for about a year unused, we put some charge in the battery from another battery pack and I drove it home with no problems. The car drove prefectly. The next day we put a new battery in the car, I dove it down to the petrol station to fill it up and again the car drove perfectly. The next day when it came to starting the car up as soon as I started it the engine cut out straight away, the thing is there does not seem to be any problems with it under the bonet, I cant seem to figure out what the problem is. In frosty conditions, excessive air inside my car causes the front windscreen to have as much frost on it INSIDE the car, as there is outside. Mist forms inside the car on all windows when it has been left standing for about twenty minutes. An experienced Toyota mechanic, who did a 60,000 miles service yesterday, 20 January, confirmed that there is no water inside the car, including the boot, and that the air-conditioning filter is clear and dry. As far as I know, none of the car windows have been replaced. Have you any idea as to what may be the cause of the problem, please?

Thanks for your response. The mechanic lifted all floor coverings throughout the car and found no water in the car. The only water is the condensation on the inside windscreen which frosts or freezes depending on how cold the outside temperature is. I don't know about the drain holes, so I'll ask.

Mike
Ford Fusion 1.4 tdci makes grating noises on cold start up from top left of engine. The noise goes after about 3 minutes and sounds fine after that. Any ideas ? Read more
very difficult to comment without hearing the noise, i would recommend you ask for expert advice from a garage. This may mean leaving it overnite. It could just be a noisey belt creaking when cold or a tensioner but I would advise you get it checked, alternativley try some talcom powder on the poly belt, sprinkle some on the belt & run for a few seconds then leave overnite & try in the morning. If there is no noise you will know its the belt. otherwise get it checked out.
Thanks for the advice......took it back to the Ford garage I bought it from and they replaced the cam belt and tensioners under warrenty......all quite now. Well done Portslade Ford.
Hi all
Having replaced the radiator on my Y reg Megane after a smash with one from the breakers, I've noticed that the coolant drops from max to min over about a month. So far I've just kept topping it up and checking it regularly, but I was wandering if radweld or a similar radiator sealant would be worth trying? I have yet to find the point that its leaking from but there are no obvious leaks from hoses etc. Any advice on whether radweld will help or cause further damage would be appreciated :)... Read more
Most independant garages that service Air con will have the dye in bottles, you only need a tiny amount and they have the lamps etc. We use to charge about 3/4 hr labour for the job all in. Suprising usually where the water leaks turnup !
I need a replacement for my FRV. With 4 daughters & 3 dogs i need a big lump so have settled on Motoring Steralisation so going full MPV. I wont be doing hardly any mileage except the run to Bordeaux in the summer so im not too bothered about economy, if that makes sense. Ive got it down to 3 motors.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Nissan have wiped their hands of the issue and say that I have to go through the dealer. The dealer is denying all knowledge. I am stunned at Nissan's lack of desire to help. They refuse even to offer to repair at cost.
Its a shame because I think the car is a great machine (apart from the not working problems), but I will never have another Nissan if they can't be bothered to fulfil their moral obligations
