What sort of bike carriers are best? I need to transport 2 bikes, one teenager sized and my adult one, to Devon & back in summer. One option I looked at is the towbar mounted ones, but as I don't have a towbar on my 06 Focus, makes the whole thing pretty expensive!

I have looked at the ones that attach to your rear hatch, but is all that weight good for the hatch itself?... Read more

Towbar and Maxxraxx are the best, great value for money, dont damage the car and very tough!

Sounds like either a faulty alternator or a bad connection to same, could possibly be that the belt is slipping.

I am thinking about buying my first car, and need a car that I feel in control of, safe and can comfortably drive being a 4ft 11. The car that I am learning to drive in is a ford fusion 2 and I don't think is a comfortable 'fit'. Any advice appreciated. Read more

My grandfather gave me a 1978 German VolksWagon for my 18th birthday, and I must say that it is the only car I know that fits a short person. The mileage is superb and I still have it till now. My only problem is driving it for long hours because the machine is quite old and prone to over heating. =)

Owners Manuall (and fitted to vehicle) show tyre size as 235/60 VR15. Despite contacting Pirelli and other manufacturers no tyres of this size are available in UK, indeed many have told me I'm wrong suggesting that 225's are what should be fitted. I only need fronts (for imminent MOT) can I use 225's or any ideas where I can find what I think is the right version? Read more

215/70/15 i seem to remember is one alternative. there was a guy on another forum who recently bought a set of 235/60/15's but it doesn't say where he bought the set.

Hi all

My 306 has recently developed a misfire on one of the cylinders not on startup from cold but after it has warmed. I noticed this because of the cold weather I have been starting it and leaving it idling to defrost. It's starts first time and runs correctly for a couple of minutes and then it starts misfiring and puffing out blue smoke

Any thoughts?

It could be air ingress into the fuel system, next time it does it try the effect of operating the primer while the engine is running, otherwise it sounds like low compression on one cylinder probably due to insufficient valve clearance which of course gets worse as the engine temperature increases.

Just bought our '97 voyager. When I open the door with the remote the folding door mirrors also open. Then I get in the car and they close. I have managed to get them to stay open until I start the ignition but they then close??? Any body got any thoughts? Read more

i had one of these with the exact same set up but i never had any problems with it,to eliminate the switch just pop it out of its housing and as its only a 2 way switch just get a piece of wire and connect the 2 points ,,,if it works you know the switch is naffed, this will save you buying one only to find out its not at fault,,,other than that im not really electronically minded lol,,,,i know it obviously works off the fob when you lock the car down the mirrors should come in and vice versa when you unlock,,,dont think it can be lock related though as i know for a fact those cars have a safety feature and when you reach approx 30 mph the doors automatically lock down,,,introduced in the states because of all the drive by shootings and car jackings,,,,not very good if your in a crash and your cars on fire and other people are trying to get you out lol ,,,but thats the us car industry for you ,,,i used to just unlock mine as soon as they locked,,,anyway what im trying to get at is if it was lock related then surely they would come in when the safety feature kicks in,,,,so other than the switch all i can think of is maybe there is a pin somewhere in the doors that gets pushed in and out on door entry and its sticking,,,worth a shout if not the switch, mine never went wrong so i never noticed if there was something in the doors

I bought my peugeot from a dealership in December gone and had nothing but trouble but my main concern is that the car stalls when I approach a junction or roundabout. Its not all the time but enough for it to become a pain. had it back to the dealer who tells me nothing is showing on diagnostics, they say it doesnt have a idle speeed control (hm???) and they cant find a fault as when they take it out its fine. IT OBVIOUSLY ISNT! Took it for a 2nd opionion today and they say it may be the stepper motor, can anyone help I have no idea what these parts are and being fobbed off by dealership.
