Hi
I have a peugeot 306 td lx which has no front fog lights. It appears as though there are plugs for fog lights to be fitted. If I got lights and a new headlight stalk that has the fog switch would they run on the existing loom or am I going to have to run my own wires and switches etc.

Thank you. Read more

Don’t call the number 08458411111 as it cost me just under£10 on three occasions.
They still never sorted my problem with my less than 1 year old vehicle.
All they seem to do is fob you off and pass the book. The CRC is not fit for purpose neither is my ford.

I bought a new vw polo 1.4 60 reg in October 2010, since then I've had two recalls on it. One for a coolant problem and the latest one is software. I took the car into the vw dealership on Tuesday 18th January to have the software problem fixed, I was told it would take an hour. I then received a phonecall to say the car had overheated and they would need to replace the head gasket so I wouldnt be able to pick it up till Thursday 20th January. It is now the 23rd January and I'm still being told that the car is not ready to be collected. I feel I am being messed around, do you have any advice? Thanks

Are the garage admitting responsibility, or are they saying there's something in the codes and you could be responsible for the cost of this work?

hi i wnt to fit a rev counter to my mk4 ford fiesta 1.8 dissle does any1 no how this is done? Read more

Even if the OP has a W terminal the rev counter would need to be the correct one for that cars set or calibrated to suit. It all depends on the pulley ratios. It may be worth exploring the ECU outputs, there may be an output available for a standard rev counter. Regards Peter

Question if my car was left to stand for six weeks and the brake discs rusted up would this affect a test on my brakes and by what margin.

Also if one of my rear brake cylinder seized could it be because it was left to stand for six weeks without been used Read more

Maybe you were just unlucky. When I worked in F1, my cars sat in the work car park regularly for up to eight weeks at a time without any problems. Merc.,BMW,VW and Mazda's were fine even with rusty discs. They soon cleaned up. No problems, not even a flat battery.

When we plug in our Sky broadband to the phone line we lose the caller number display.

I have tested this extensively with BT operative over the phone; works OK when just phone plugged in; works OK with Sky+ box plugged in, but when the sky broadband connection is plugged in, we lose the display option. Phone works OK, but just don't get the caller number displayed. This is causing tensions as SWMBO needs this feature.... Read more

Thanks FB.

I can certainly relate to the issues with Sky. We're only just over a year with Sky+, but the box performance is appauling. Probably having to switch it on and off once a week....

British car manufacturers tended to use EN40B for steel crank applications.

Hi - the car is using way too much fuel - about 20 mpg. Supposedly recent MOT (bought the car from a dealer - MOT is one month ago.)

I have a simple diagnostic tool (ELM327) to read the diagnostics. There is a warning that the cat converter is out of limits but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Other than that everything looks normal except the air temperature sensor is reading a constant 42 deg C when the outside temperature is more like 5 or 6 deg C. Could this be an issue? It does not seem to have caused the ECU to log it as a fault. Read more

Moderately low tyre pressures will reduce fuel consumption by 1 or 2 per cent per tyre-it's not that significant, that's why you haven't noticed it in the past. Hypermilers often run 40+ psi in a bid for a few extra mpg. I tried it-the ride was awful!

Have you been basing this high consumption inquiry just upon the digital read out on the dash, and not cross checking with actual brim to brim calculations...??
