I live in the Midlands and over the last 24 hours we have a good dump of snow. There will not be any ski resorts opening soon but it has impacted the roads significantly in my local area. I have been out and about on the roads and been quite astonished at the over confidence of 4 x 4 / SUV drivers in the area and the fact that people seem to be confusing additional traction with the laws of physics and regularly see many of these drivers acting very dangerously on the roads. Is it me or does anyone else see this ? Read more

Would it be fair to say that 'mid-engined' means that the engine is forward of the rear wheels but behind the driver?

NO! Between the axles....

I replaced our old Nissan Terrano r3mR Auto 2.7 Diesel with a used 2004 Santa FE and have had the vehicle for about 18 months now.

It was reasonably cheap at £1800 with 6 months tax and had 79,000 miles on the clock. It has leather seats but otherwise is a basic CDX petrol auto with full service history from the first owner but virtually none from the second owner who had run it for the last 3/4 years.... Read more

Thats my sort of motoring, but depending on vehicle condition and reasonable guess as to likely life span would probably have had it LPG converted.

I have no experience of peugot diesels, only seat/vw diesels. But losing power at speed sounds like a classic MAF sensor problem (Mass Air Flow sensor found between the air filter and the turbo air intake).

Cold starting problems are likely to be faulty glowplugs, these usually start failing one at a time after 60,000 miles or so, and although not expensive can on some engines be a bit of a pig to change. They are easy to check with a multimeter, they usually fail open circuit, should be less than 1 ohm when cold.

Hi, I have a couple of dash error messages coming up on the dash. ' check anti-pollution' and ' check cruise control' along with the usual engine light and spanner.
Thus has happened in the past and was told the boost pressure sensor was reset to sort the problem but could there be an underlining problem to this?
I was using the cruise control when these faults came up, any help would be appreciated, cheers. Read more

It could be any of a number of different things.

You need to get the diagnostic codes read first.
