Hello everyone,
New member here, just thought I'd introduce myself and describe my vehicle and activities.... Read more
I'm a new driver (2 weeks!) and went to park in a supermarket car park today at lunch time, got really close to another car when parking. I went to straighten up, realised I didn't have time as I'd be late for a meeting and pulled out, went round and left the car park.
When I parked up at work and walked round the front of my car I noticed I had scratched a decent size section of my front bumper. Feel like a real d*** for doing it, worse for not noticing, and even worse for doing it to someone else's car. I'm sure it's the car from the supermarket because I've got some paint on my car the same colour.... Read more
The above comment is correct in relation to the road traffic act,and notifying police.

Both keys are the same .I assume one has remote buttons and the other does not.The battery in the key is only for remote locking operation and nothing else. You cannot set the immobilser, this is done automatically when the ignition key is turned to the off position.
I dont see the point of the buyer taking a diagnostic code reader to the car that he/she will view/test drive when the seller can erase the codes from the car before the buyer turns up.
Can a test drive bring the error code/s back? If not how does the buyer is sure that the car is error free before spending lots of money?... Read more
The first thing to do, when filtering out dodgy private car sellers before bothering to inspect the vehicle, is to ask, "is it your name on the V5?"
When they go "no because it's me dad's/I'm selling it for me mate/it belongs to x/he doesn't want you going to his house, he's not well/I just bought it and never got round to changing it"...
Hi,
Last year I bought a Nissan Note N-Tec auto(2013) which developed an intermittent fault - when I started it from cold, usually overnight, and put it into reverse or drive, there was a very loud rattling/clattering noise which lasted for 1/2 minutes and then disappeared. Although the car drove without any problems after the noise had stopped, this noise definitely was not normal/ordinary and to me, indicated some sort of fault. I took it back to the dealership and left it with them for 10 working days to see if they could replicate this fault, but with no result (or so they told me), despite telling me on day 2 that the car needed a new gearbox and authorisation was being sought from Nissan for the replacement. I have also contacted Nissan UK, but all they told me to do was to abide by the dealer's findings - they told me that, as the dealership could find no fault, there was nothing to be done.... If you google "nissan Juke CVT problems" you will find issues going back to 2011. Yes it has been redesigned since then but their track record on this issue appears poor... Since repalcement is the only cure ... they will try to do nothing...

I used to work for the AA as a Patrol, and they had a laboratory in Basingstoke where very detailed analysis of failed components were carried out. I visited there a few times and it was fascinating. It was like Air Crash Investigation. Exact causes of failures were determined for warranty purposes and customer claims against garages alike. Cambelts were often the subject of testing, and causes of failure were identified.
We got theC Max as a motability car in October 2013 and almost from day one it's had this issue saying Child Lock Malfunction Service Required.
Ford and the Ford garage the car came from have been trying from almost day one to fix this problem and to day it's still coming up, they have changed so many modules, ripped out and replaced wiring in the door, said it's caused by water getting in the door and wing mirror and still no final solution.... Hi. I have this problem still. Anyone else?
Hi, the rear box on my wifes Fiesta 1.6 TDCi (2009) is almost rotted away and will start blowing soon. I had a look underneath today and the box is in one piece with the centre pipe which runs down the underneath of the car and joins the flexi pipe via two bolts.
Now, my problem is that I am being told this can only come from a main dealer (quoted £300 including labour). I have called a lot of independant fitters and exhaust suppliers but they are not getting back to me. ... Read more
Hi you can get a new rear box for your fiesta from exhaust centre on line for about £29-00 with a clamp, just cut the pip to sute and clamp the new cilencer on to it,{ a bit of cake}.
Hope this helps...
Hi, please help. I have an insignia and my engine emission light is flashing.
At first it came up with code 55 and the emission filter light Came on. Then I tried to clear by going over 2000 revs this cleared the code but the light now flashes and beeps.
Any advise greatly appreciated
Thank you Read more
Unfortunately engine emission lights merely let you know there is a problem with something. To know what you need a code reader.
You mention filter in your title, so it could be a DPF problem, if it is the engine light it could be EGR valve, turbo issues, blocked air pipework, injectors etc.
Find a good diesel specialist and let them have a look.
Honda patented an 11 speed triple clutch gearbox in 2016, a claimed benefit being uninterrupted torque (though why that matters on a road car I have no idea).
I can't find any more description than that.
