I recently purchased a Honda Crv 2005 reg through a private seller, it broke down on the way home and we have since discovered we need to replace the engine, the sellers refuse to refund us and the solicitors have got us nowhere either.

Where can we source a reliable engine from? Global engines in essex say they can replace engine and fit it for £1250 but how do I know if they are genuine. I dont want to buy an engine, pay a load of labour to fit it to find out engine no good as will never get the labour money. Please help! Read more

The driver's seat gradually lowers itself over time and requires occasional pumping up again. Honda advised the local garage to remove the lever for a period and to refit it and test the seat height. My did not need raising after the refit.

There has been a Honda notification on this which means I am not alone in experiencing this. However Honda has stated that all the components are working within design parameters and the problem is due to drivers inadvertantly striking the lever on alighting from the car. If this is so this surely must be a design fault which nobody will admit. It is not a big issue but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and what they have done about it. Read more

I'm told the process is straight forward on new or nearly new cars. The advice I was given was to ask the question on a armed forces forum who carry out a similar exercise on a regular basis.

During the Spring and Summer of 2014, I have had cause to seek re-employment as a professional electronics engineer, posting my carefully prepared, 2 page CV and contact details on three popular 'job boards' on the internet, namely Total Jobs, CV-Library and MatchTech.

The responses and enquiries I have received have been amusing, irritating and frankly unprofessional on many occasions and only rarely helpful at all.... Read more

A pretty sad state of affairs, I agree. There is a bunch of 'Headhunters': their words not mine, that use one of my local pubs after their work. They are pleasant enough but not overly bright. They seem to rely heavily on commission, which is an incentive to place someone into a role, regardless of the actual requirements. From what I can gather none of them is qualified for anything except being personable, allied to a thick skin. It is not a job I would consider doing in this day and age. When I was working we did our own recruitment and I think we only ever employed 2 people under 45. One was fine and worked out, the other was not so good and was side lined into a less demanding role. Our method was to ask 6 key questions relevant to the role. 2 of the questions were designed as 'killer' questions, which if answered incorrectly automatically disqualified the candidate. Not perfect but quite reliable and not too difficult. However I would not like to be in the job market now. For although since retiring I have worked quite a bit for my old company because they are finding it hard to replace genuine experience, I fear I would be rejected by the so called modern methods of recruitment. But what do I know?

Hello everyone, I have been asked by my boss at work if I could assist her in finding a forum that's good with cars, as she's got a few problems with her 2003 Ford Focus, so here I am! (As you lovely people are top-notch with your car knowledge)

My boss has had the Focus garaged for quite a while now, as it''s suffering from a fault where the car thinks that it's overheating, and then goes into "Go-slow mode" (as she put it) and then won't go over 30 mph. She said that it's quite a common fault, but I can't seem to find anything about it online. Could it be an ECU problem?... Read more

Common fault? No. Ecu fault,?highly unlikely.I would suggest you get the cooling system checked out.Sounds like insufficient water in the engine,or problem with water flow/thermostat?

I was gonna say, "The car thinks it's overheating" sounds like she-speak for "The car is overheating". ...
