New here, does anyone know/recommend a place where I can buy a condenser for a 2006 model? I have seen a few on ebay but not sure if they're good enough. I don't want to buy from dealer and pay extortionate prices. Thanks. Read more
I am having issues with my xsara picasso 1.6i petrol 2001. When I try and start the car it turns over but struggles to start. It sounds like that the battery is dead as the instrument panels dims and it turns over slowly, but after about 10 seconds it does start. I tested the battery with a battery tester and it states that the output is good. I've taken a fairly new battery off my other car and the results are the same although the battery from the almera is lightly smaller than that for the picasso. Once the car starts, if I turn the engin off and restart it, it starts with no problems. It seems to only happen when the car has been left over night.
Any advice on what could be causing this would be appreciated.... Read more
If you are happy that the battery is ok,then you need to check the main power cables and earth lead where they run under the floor and the earth point on the chassis/engine.It is possible that you have a starter motor fault.

I inherited my son's VW Golf 1.6 SR. It seems to have a unique problem. I noticed that when the left or right signal is on for turning it seems to loose power (sometimes), engines revs low. I let go the accelerator and press again and it seems to rev up again ok. It happens when the turn signal is turned off automatically at the turn. I tried a few time without switching on the signal and it works fine. Any ideas? I am suspecting an electrical problem. Read more

My partner has an incident a few days back in a supermarket car park, a motorcyclist was coming towards her as she was pulling out one of the bay roads onto the main exit road, she didn't see the motorcyclist until late and had to slam the hankers on. She didn't pull out on. the chap as she stopped in time behind the white line, but he must have thought she hadn't seen him and fell off his bike at very low speed, causing no visible damage or injury, he took her number to contact her about the incident.... Assuming no witness comes forward, your other half needs to simply dispute any claim that comes her way, stressing that no collision took place. If anything, I would think it's a police matter; allegation of without due care etc - but in that case the same applies, you simply state your version of events. If it differs considerably from the allegation and there is no further evidence forthcoming, the only sensible decision is not to take matters any further. Ultimately the guy threw himself off the bike, for whatever reason, you didn't knock him over. At the slow speeds one should be proceeding at in a supermarket car park and the general degree of caution that should be exercised, it's difficult to see how he ended up on the deck, but there we go. What would he have done had a child run out in front of him? I wouldn't worry, and I'd rebuff any polite informal efforts at parting you from your money as well.

You probably have a short or leak down to earth on your aerial, take it apart and give it a good clean.

You might be able to stop it juddering by giving it a bit of a work out, nothing to violent but holding it on the clutch on a hill for about 10 or 15 seconds or pulling away in a high gear. I have 'smothed out' a number of clutches doing that.
