Having enjoyed the forum for some time, I am very pleased that I have been reading it.

Many many of the comments are helping me to shape my future choices, and those comments a few years ago abou DPf''S and other "pollution devices and DMF's etx have been really useful. Read more

I gave up diesels ten years ago, but I feel there's no way of avoiding DMFs.

Lower BHP models? My 90bhp 2L diesel doesn't have a dual mass flywheel.

I bought this car recently (Mid August 2014) and the car in itself is fine.I brought it from a main dealer for some peace of mind.

However when i stop at lights and the engine is idling is seems to intermittently judder. It is not to the stage of cutting out but it is annoying.... Read more

While fairly reliable if serviced correctly, I had one of these for three years, another thing to watch for at 40,000 miles is the lower radiator hose perishing. Luckily it's quite an easy job, but annoying if the car overheats in traffic like mine did.

Ok well i have bought a new cam cover gasket and went to fit it today.

I undid all the bolts securing the cover to the head including the two under the posts that the air filter box locates onto but i can't remove the cover because there is an electrical wire that comes from the fuel rail across the cover and to a connector at the back of the cover....

Hi, my headlight was cracked so I brought one from Ebay. I fitted it but when I turn on the headlight there is a ticking noise. I tried the old headlight and there is no noise. It seems to be coming from the bottom connection, there is the connection and next to it a round part that can be turned. I have tried turning this to see if it makes a differance but it doesnt. The headlights work OK, just it has this load ticking noise that will get on my nerves. Can this be fixed by dismatling the part, if so any comments on how to do this? Thanks Jim Read more

Has anybody had experience of sump guard grounding on road humps ? Read more

We had same problem with our old A class , which we traded in today, new one ( same model) seems to have same problem. Wondered if it was a quirk of the A Class? Humps have to be fairly high.

Can anyone tell me how I remove the fog light blanks please.

I intend fitting fog lights/DRL lights but cannot suss out how the blanks are removed.... Read more

I would think you need to drop the plastic undertray and/or wheel arch liners to access these blanks.

So my insurance company are going to give me the value of the car minus salvage and I keep the car as agreed.

The car is perfectly drivable and would pass an MOT and the damage is one dented door.. They say I have to repair the car within 30 days and show proof of repairs otherwise my insurance will become void.. Can they do this?... Read more

When they payout for a writeoff they then own the vehicle. They then resuuply it to you as salvage. From memory, they will retain the MOT to ensure you have to get a new one. The V5 may well go back to DVLA to get a VIC marker on it if it is cat C - not sure about cat D.

They may well want to see your driving licence to ensure you have one and that you have no undeclared points on it - they cannot (yet?) see drivers records at DVLA....

I have developed a prototype of new type of fuel saver which shows up on the windscreen as a head up display. It is non electronic and potentially inexpensive. You can see a short video of it in action by entering ; G ZERO FUEL SAVER into youtube or Google. I would be grateful for any comments or observations. Thanks, Ivan Laud Read more

Thanks for coming back. In the video the display totally obscures the nearside lane at the outset and swings across both lanes just before the two minute mark. I guess then its not filmed from the driver's point of view. I accept too that users would adapt to the analogue approach. Maybe it's more of a goer than I first thought so best of luck.
