I have been told by the garage who fitted my exhaust that it wasn't fitted badly, just that the rubber sling had probably come off when I went over a bump.
As a result of this sling not being attached, the tail pipe burnt a hole in the rear bumper, and they are not willing to replace the bumper.
Is it possible that this sling can 'just come off'? Read more

You don't need back-up info "to give to the court". Just write it all down in plain language, don't try to sound like a lawyer, keep it brief, tell the truth, enclose as much written proof as you have, don't waffle. I would bet that the garage will settle before the court case as soon as they realise that you know what you are doing and are serious about the claim.

The engine has new Plugs, Leads & Coil Pack to successfully cure a misfire. I now have a jerky engine (misfire?) when running along with the engine just keeping up with the road speed (much more dramatic in 4th rather than 5th) - the slightest acceleration and on overrun seems to be OK. Also there is a noticeable lack of pulling power up hills and fuel consumption is down about 10%. Can you point me in the right direction to cure this, please? Read more

Have you checked the spark plug electrodes to see if they are all the right colour? (this only works if you shut down the engine whilst it is malfunctioning).

If they all the wrong colour I'd be inclined to uncouple the lambda sensor and see if things improve without it. It might have been damaged with from the misfiring that you had and be reading a false rich/lean mixture.

I was driving in France recently and having refuelled I drove about 200 miles on the autoroute at about 80mph. on decellerating to enter services, the engine started to misfire and run rough. I stopped it and restarted with the same result and was evenyually towed off to a garage. The French garage tried changing the injectors with no improvement and stated that they had checked the fuel line (first thought was dodgy fuel), still the same. It's now back in the UK and my garage are trying to find the fault, the injectors are ok the fuel line clean, high pressure pump very slightly low on pressure but not by much. When started from cold it runs evenly but when it warms up it runs rough with no.1 cylinder not firing, which is furthest from the H/P pump. Interestingly, the deisel they removed smells of paint thinners, any ideas? Read more

This is the first time i post in this forum, and i wish everyone could help me to make decsion for choosing which one is worthwhile to buy. SInce i have limted budget(5000-5500 for car only), I have to choose luxury cars for some reasons. Another reason is that i run few mileage per year(around 4000-5000 mile) and will plan to run it for around 3 years, then i decide to choose petrol one. Automatically gear box is must becasue sometimes my wife will use it. I have gatered the following information posted by dealership as follows:

1.(Auto,Petrol)Volvo V50 2006 (06 reg) 2.4i SE 5dr, Mileage:78000, Price:5000 ... Read more

A high spec Accord or Avensis will provide you with all the comfort of any of your above choices for much less outlay and lower running costs. Good Aisan autos (proper ones) and well-regarded reliability.

We collected the car on 26th Sept from a dealer and drove back 45 miles with no issues and it going like a Boeing when you floored it.

On the Thursday out for a spin and initially no issues with kick down. Went through a 40mph zone and then went to overtake. Depressed pedal. but no kick down and had to quickly pull back in. On stopping and starting again, no problem.... Read more

Similar thing happened to me at a VW dealer. He had 2 identical Golf TDi's advertised, one red, one white, both ex VW, both same price. Had a white Golf and hated red thus looked the white one first, only 10,000 miles but it was a nail. He offered to do all that was necessary to sort it but I was not interested, 4 bent wheels made me nervous. I walked over to the Red one and it was really nice but immediately he said they had just fitted a new fuel pump and could not sell it at the advertised price.

Walked and got a better deal elsewhere....
