On odd occasions, most often when towing and gently accelerating away from a low speed, I lose power. The immediate symptom is that the Cruise Control function ceases. Sometimes I get the Emission Control System warning light come on. The whole thing is then resolved by turning off the ignition and turning it back on. Not easy when you're on a motorway. Read more
Hello having big problems with my 2002 v70 2.4 petrol. I had a warning light on which when checked out came up as crank sensor. This was replaced then the code for a lambda sensor came up again replaced with a denso pre cat sensor. The car takes a few turns to start sometimes. Again the light came on with reduced performance light.Max 3500 RPM. Also the engine service warning comes on and sometimes the alarm service warning comes on. I have replaced the battery aswell. This is costing a fortune in parts and code readings. The car is driving fine. The other warning is engine temp is high and the gauge goes of the scale but it's not over heating. I can start the car sometimes with no warnings. Please help Read more
In light of the most senior civil servant in charge of the West Coast Main Line bidding fiasco also being in charge of the Thameslink train order one as well, (Siemens being preffered to Bomdardier), I think it might be a good time to revisit this disaster also?
Apparently, this £1.4Bn contract will be signed-off to Siemens in January 2013. I bet the workers at Derby are hoping for a U turn? I hope they get their wish?... Read more
Just went yesterday with two friends to take delivery of their new cars, bought on my recommendation. I could not believe the interactive talk through with the salesman delivering the car explaining about finance options, interest charges, gap insurance, paint protection etc, all of which had to be replied to yes no or "no response" and the the customer had to sign electronically that he had been asked these questions and was happy with his replies.
I am happy that i buy my cars cash (heavily discounted about a year old and don't have to sit through all this myself. ... Read more

Hi All
My girlfriend recently changed job and gave up her company car after 6 years, she was given an old (but reliable) Rover 25 by a family member to get to her new job, I believe it is a 2003 K reg model. It has done her proud for a couple of months now but with the weather turning I want to make sure it is in tip top condition for her daily commutes in the upcoming winter so can anyone tell me the essentials I will need to either do myself or get done in regards to a winter service please? I am a car novice and off work skint at the mo but will have a go at anything to make sure her car is safe for her.... Read more
Many thnaks to you both, I will do all this at the weekend and get her car in tip top shape for winter.
My daughter has just rung to say that someone has run into the back of her car at a roundabout. She has the other drivers details and car reg. and has now continued on her journey, having rung to say that, althoug damaged, the car is still driveable ( it was a low speed shunt, sounds mainly bumper damage)
I just wanted to be forwarned about the claim process as I have heard stories about dodgy claims handling companies etc and want her to be aware of any pitfalls. If she is offered a loan car, are there any problems with this? We could insure our car for her whilst her car is repaired, would that be more advatageous or are loan cars not a problem? ( I think she's with Direct Line) Read more
>>she is having to miss a day at uni as she not only has to wait for the insurance people but also has to see her doctor as she has a bad neck
She doesn't have to miss a day at uni, they broke the appointment so it's up to them to make another at her convenience. Good idea to get an independant asessment of any injury.

What about putting some adverse feedback on eBay. In my experience he will not want it known that he is selling duff cars and will probably change his mind about the refund!
