Just wondering what peoples views are on a new Mercedes C Class Estate.

I am a fan of cars with good engineering pedigree but like many people was very disappointed with Mercedes during the time the accountants ran the company and the quality took a dive.... Read more

"The fascinating battle between the A4, 3 series and C class is good for all of us I'd think."

As is the one between the A3, A-class and 1-series, which features in both Autocar and Auto Express this week. Autocar, testing diesels, ranks the Mercedes just ahead of the Audi with the BMW a poor third; Autio Express, teting petrols, has them in the reverse order....

I have a 2010 Mondeo diesel, I have noticed that the top of the rear bumper is getting marked in the left and right corners, apparently from the boot lid, there is a good gap when boot is closed and I do not slam boot closed hard.
Is this a common problem, will Ford cover it as part of warranty, or is there a simple fix.

Any information welcome. Read more

thunderbird

never mind thunderbird your a real winner getting a wife, was this in the 60s when 120 was fastish?

Actually it was in the 80's 90's and in the class I raced with the twisty UK tracks with shortish straits you would never see 120 mph, in truth with the gearing I had 120 mph would probably have been the absolute max at 8000 rpm, maybe at Snetterton with a following wind. It was all about being smooth and keeping up your corner speed.

Currently have one as a courtesy car and must say the economy is exceptional, with 52 mpg according to the trip computer, the car is excellent to drive even as a 1.2, well equipped and looks good in burnt orange. I was a never a huge fan of the previous model, finding it thrashy and not very economical, but the new Swift seems far better. Anyone else on here own one and are they reliable? Read more

Now that I am a pensioner I will purchase a small car the Swift is top of my list I would go for the 1.2 and would be used mainly round town but I will occasionally do a long run across europe do you think that it will suit my purposes I am not to bothered about top speed but comfort is essential.

Hi All

My mercedes C250 is under 3 years old and the lacquer is lifting away from the alloy wheels on the center 4" of the wheels. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from 2 and a half years ago and they took some photos. They sent them to the warranty office and they said they would replace them but because I had caused some rim damage to the wheels they wouldn't replace then FOC and I would have to pay between 25% and 75% of the cost. ... Great engines on these cars better than the one that replaced it....

If it were me I'd go for either a RAV-4 or a Forester. Older 4x4s may well have been abused by a previous owner, and Toyotas and Subarus can stand up to it better than most.

Friends of ours spend a few months of each year in New Zealand and bought 2 cheap 4x4s, a Cherokee (endless trouble) and some form of Toyota - I forget which (no trouble at all).

Electrics are doing many wierd things.

During starting the engine power is cut to the headlamps and radio (normal behaviour). Intermittently this power is being cut at other times: either for long periods, or momentarily when switching between dip and main beam.... Read more
