My wifes car, POLO 2002, 1.4 16V, is not starting after short journeys. We noticed this more in cold weather, but it is almost a continuous problem now.
We have ecently had car serviced with spark plugs changed, and also took into dealership who did a diagnostics test, which didn't show up anything.... Read more

I think your husband better try out the skoda superb greenline estate with dsg gearbox before thinking as a brand snob, that is the best skoda ever build so far, the only skoda which is built not compromise of cost. with most of the parts being from vag group, in any day it is much better than Hyundai and Kia. Not that I don't like Koreans, they might be improve, but all I can say is just design and visual aspects, engineering bit might be a leap forward but I seriously don't want to be a white mice. 10 years down the road the Hyundai Value will definitely lesser than the skoda. Hyundai group just get to aggressive this day, I always relate " budget" to Hyundai, right now they try to sell their car same or more expensive than their rivals which I find it ridiculous, think abit too high about themselves. The whole Hyundai brand "revolution" start as early as Getz era, but the proper one begins from I series. Look at those bunch of used car now, their depreciation gone a lot and the used market of Korean car, consumers

Hi,
Driving along doing about 75-80 in cruise control and suddenly the car loses power, the glow plug light flashes. I was able to pull over and switch off. After about a minute I restarted, no problem, the car went the rest of the journey ( about 15 miles ) without any further issues. Seems ok in cruise control also.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could have been as I'm a bit concerned about driving too far in the future.
Many thanks Read more
Had it scanned and it showed this .....
000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation: Control Range Not Reached P0299 - 006 - Short to Plus - Intermittent
The bloke cleared the code and said it may have just been some muck from the egr, anyway he says it's best to get the revs right up and give it a bit of a thrash and see how it goes.
Test drove a 2005 citroen c4 automatic today and the guy said about this warranty for £195 for 12mths, would you bother? Read more
I'm going by memory here from delivering hundreds of C4's new.
I'm not certain that petrol engined C4's have automated manual boxes, i'm fairly sure they had a rather nice proper auto box, this is assuming that your choice is petrol...if its a Diesel you are buying then it will be satan's automanual gearbox and quite honestly you couldn't pay me to have one....
Hi,
I have a Peugeot 307 2lt Hdi XSI, before christmas I got a de-pollution system faulty fault pop up.. I had the DPF taken off and cleaned and all faults reset and about a month later the fault came back.. I was advised to take the car for a long blast and to get some Forte DPF additive to try help resolve the issues.. for 3-4 months now the fault has been coming and going, going into limp mode a couple of times, each time getting the faults reset.. So I got the car diagnosed by a pug specialist and the codes that come up were P0470 and P0471, telling me the pressure sensor was faulty.. So I had the sensor replaced and the faults reset again and about a week later the de-pollution system fault popped up again.. So I got it diagnosed by a pug specialist again and new fault appeared, fault code P0472 open circuit or short circuit on earth for the pressure sensor.. The specialist reset all the faults again for me..
Has anybody got any advice on what to check or replace for the P0472 fault.?
Thanks in advance..

" open circuit or short circuit on earth for the pressure sensor "
This is pointing more towards a wiring or connetor fault, check there is no water or corossion on the sensor connector or problem could be the wiring between the sensor & ECU. This sensor iks usually located on the engine bulkhead with rubber pipes which then connect to metal pipes & bolt to either end of the DPF, these would have been disturbed when the DPF was cleaned. The metal pipes may have been left loose or the rubber pipes split.
The Honda Jazz is a pleasant little car to drive, with very good economy for a petrol car. There is only one downside - the space-saver spare wheel, which I discovered yesterday after a puncture.
This fitting, which would not be out of place on a wheel barrow or a ride-on lawnmower, is not only narrower than the normal wheel, but also has a considerably smaller diameter.
Although we had it on for no more than 20 minutes while we drove to the local tyre fitter, my wife commented how unsafe the car felt with it. It recommends a maximum speed of 80 km/h, but was unsteady at 50 km/h.
Fortunately we discovered this before we went anywhere. However I would not want to have this on a motorway; it's calling for an accident.
Many cars have these miserable little fittings. And you see plenty of cars in use with them, and they clearly have not been used to limp to the nearest tyre bay.
Two questions:
1. How come we still have tyres that can be punctured?
2. How on earth are these space-saver wheels legal when they are clearly so dangerous? Read more

I hope you fitted it as recommended in the handbook, and not at the wrong end?
I am buying an 02 Yaris 1.0 S from a (Mitsubishi) dealer. The dealer agreed to put the car through the MOT before hand over. Any MOT faults will be rectified by the dealer.
Last week, the dealer phoned me. The car failed the MOT due to an ABS warning light coming on during the test. The dealer has ordered a new ABS sensor from Toyota and will fit and re-test the car next week.... Read more

I was wondering if anybody has any ideas about this please. My mother has an 09 Corsa 1.4 auto. To get into the boot you have to press the unlock button on the keyfob twice I think, or with the car unlocked press a rubber button that is just under the boot handle. When pressing this button you can hear a solenoid or something trying to activate a little bit but it is doing anything regarding opening the lock. This would not be so bad if the car actually also had a key lock on the outside, but it has not so there is no other way into the boot. I noticed that inside the plastic hatchback interior panel has 2 torx screws holding it on. Unfortunately I did not have any tools with me. I am going to go back with the tools to have a look but just wondered in the meantime has anybody else had this problem please? Read more
Thanks mate but the stupid thing does not have a key lock on the boot. Ok until it messes up like now.

WOWAt £8995, its seriously tempting even in petrol mode as it looks to be a reliable unit with chain cam. I phoned the Dacia hotline today, they will accept part exchange. This is seriously tempting. Read more

At this age & low mileage I would bet part of the oil breather system could be blocked up with oil crud/mayonaise. This causes high crank-case pressure which blow oil past the valve seals , symptoms high oil consumption (could this be also oiling up the plugs if bad enough?).
Check this first as it's a very common fault in these engines and easily fixed:-...
