Starting up the car a few days ago I heard an odd buzzing or clicking sound that I hadn't heard before. I had been listening to the cricket on LW in the morning so assumed it was poor reception on the radio. On the 10 minute journey home I realised it wasn't the radio but instead seemed to be coming from the passenger footwell or behind the dash. Anyhow, half way back home the dreaded engine management light came on and has been on since.

On the next journey I realised that the sound was coming from the heating system, as switching off the heating/climate control completely stopped the noise and switching it on again made the noise reappear.... Read more

Just want to add my thanks to Gendan.co.uk for some excellent service. I rang up at about 3pm on Friday afternoon to order one of their code readers and it arrived at 8am on Saturday morning.

I was looking at the specs for the new Audi A1 5 door (Sportline) on ths site yesterday as 5 door superminis are my current car of choice. I notice a trend as you go up the spec levels. The SE gives you 15" wheels and normal suspension. The Sport gives you 16" wheels and sports suspension while the top spec S Line gets sport suspension and 17" wheels. So if you want a good ride and high spec, you are screwed. Audi are not alone either, I have looked at a number of small cars where if you want leather, premium sound system, parking sensors, all round electric windows, climate control etc, which I do, you have to have rock hard suspension, privacy glass, sports body kit etc, which I don't.. Obviously the car companiies are not fools and they have done their research. These thigs are what people want. However, for me, such things put me off many cars. Read more

Help!! My 2000 2.0l BMW Z3 has been running perfectly since I bought it. The other day I drove it for half an hour and parked up for 2 hours. Everything was fine until I started the car and the EML and traction control lights came on (yellow) simultaneously. The car also had a noticeable lack of performance and the rpm did not increase immediately when i put my foot down. The engine just sounded wrong. I took it to the BMW dealership here in Bristol and the advised it was the throttle control mechanism/valve. This was replaced at a cost of £730 and it has NOT fixed the problem. The dealership are in touch with BMW 'technical' for advice but they cannot locate the source of the problem. Do you have any ideas please? This can't be the first time this has happened :( Read more

Hallo&Help!
I ' ve been having the same problem since one week .. But the real problem now is that BMW assistance told me they really don't know the problem cause, they 've tested the car and MAYBE IT COULD BE 1 of 3 pieces but THE DON'T KNOW THE ONE RIGHT and THAT IT'S UP TO ME DECIDE !?!?!?!?!?!?! so if i will be lucky i'll find the RIGHT ONE, if i will not MAYBE i will change two working pieces to find the not working pieces.... Take note: one is 670 euro one is 990 euro and one is 970 euro : 3200 euro UP TO ME !?!?!?!!!!!!
I've been search ing a lot on internet to find someone who had the same problem to know how to fix the problem but a lot With the problem and all without a solution.
Please tell me if you figure out the solution
I don't want to buy another car ' cause first one i like only my z3 and second one cause i don't want to spend a lot of money to buy ridicolous cars......
Tks

The other night when out with friends I was told a cautionary, true, ebay event. A friend's friend had listed a car for sale. It was listed stating it was to be trailered away and not driven. The buyer paid by PayPal and insisted on driving the vehicle home. Needless to say the vehicle apparently broke down on the way home.

The buyer claimed a refund from PayPal. PayPal paid up. The vendor told ebay the advert clearly stated the vehicle should be trailered home. PayPal didn't want to know. Read more

Just a thought about the e bay 'pay pal issue,

I wonder if the police would pursue an action for fraud ,The goods were sold with an appropriate description ,the deal was done ,the car was driven away, then payment was stopped .

Sounds like fraud to me. I do know that if you paid with a cheque and the cheque bounced ,you commit a criminal offence.

Perhaps someone will pursue that line .

Car stopped yesterday whilst driving on B road. loud noise from engine then loss of power. No warning lights, oil pressure and temp guage were normal. No leaks detected. Nothing showing on diagnostic. The car is being towed to Seat dealer tomorrow for a closer look. I bought the car 10 months after first registration by Seat UK with zero miles on the clock. the car would officially be 4 years old in Feb 2012, so technically I have driven the car from zero miles within 3 years. On reading blogs it sounds like an oil pump.Any suggestions out there. I wonder whether Seat will cover the cost of repair, as this fault seems to be common. Read more

If you are loosing water as a result of a leaking head gasket it will be being blown out of the header tank overflow or filler cap, if you look in that area you will probably see a white deposit caused by dry antifreeze. You can check for sure by placing the end of the overflow pipe in a receptical.
