I'm shopping for a used XC90 and I have up to about £12k to spend. I notice that for this money you tend to see 2003 cars with 70,000 miles up to 2005 cars with nearly 100,000 miles.
All things being equal, which would you prefer? The newer car or the lower mileage car?... Read more

Hi there, can anyone help, my wife was cleaning my car out yesterday and my son was playing in the drivers seat, switching switches etc, (as kids do), when i went to insert the card the dashboard went mad and started flshing all the lights at me, the out side lights didnt come on at all, due to this i was unable to start via the button, and was advised to jump start the car, that didnt work and now when i insert the key nothing happens at all.. i can understand that the battery may well be dead now, but how can this happen as i only used the car the day before!! has this happened to anyone, and what was the problem/fix, also will the code need re-programming for the key? cheers Read more
Well if the kid has been flashing lights, interior lights on all day, radio going, the battery is probably dead. If it's an old battery, they sometimes don't recover. Jumping a diesel is often an issue with cheap jumpleads, and the car just won't start.
Try putting the jump leads on to the Laguna, and leave the other car running for 15 mins on a fast idle, it should charge the battery in the Laguna enough to start itself. Basically you're wanting to give the battery a bit of charge so your "good" car's battery and alternator isn't trying to start and charge the Laguna, possibly though insufficiant jumpleads....
I had such a good experience with a garage I just wanted everyone to know about it.
Below is the recomendation I have already put on the garage review section.... Read more

And on a Telesales number which protects the seller but doesn't even give the buyer a direct phone contact.
I'd want several barge poles tied together !!
I lose power in sharp corners and roundabouts after a long run of say 100 miles plus. The car has just been serviced and has had new lambda sensors fitted as previous were "shot" and this was happening pre service and it has not been cured.
Any ideas? Read more
Is it worse when you are low on fuel? The fuel pick up sits in a tub to avoid fuel starvation in these circumstances, they are known to fail. Keeping the more fuel in the tank avoids the problem.
Hi. I'm looking to replace our terrific but ageing 2008 BMW 3 series Touring with something similar, but the replacement must be no wider. Anything wider (including mirrors) will not fit through our garage door. What can you suggest? Thanks. Bill Todd Read more
Modern built house garages are a total disgrace and insult.
They are too small and disgustingly uncomfortable to use.
MPs who all get a free mortgage on a second home paid for by the state (if their constituency is outside London) and who are statistically 4x more likely to be a multi property owning landlord continue to cram the rest of us into small boxes so that they can profit from their property portfolios and afford to live in spacious comfort.
MPs have no interest in opening up and loosening building permissions to enable us to start to live comfortably on the 85% green land that the UK is.
They don't care that we are squeezing ourselves into the box sized homes they are enabling the creation of to support their own gain.
I've been ocasionally adding my calculated brim to brim mpg figures to the real life fuel economy register for my car, a 1.3 IMA Honda Insight ES. I noticed that my worst 3 figures were below the 'Real Range' for the car and it hasn't updated. The worst figure was 38.7mpg (short journeys, cold weather, hilly area).
Is something causing it not to update? Read more
Tried with Internet Explorer, Chrome and Android browser on my phone. None work. Also tried a different computer. Thanks anyway.
Whilst washing my car today a small amount of soapy water went into the drain hole located underneath the fuel filler nozzle.
Does this drain into the tank or somewhere else? I'm concerned I might have contaminated the fuel and I'll need to get it drained. Read more
It drains out behind the rear bumper.
Having water/foam/dirty fuel/bird s***/whatever drain in to the tank would be silly if you think about it, wouldn't it?
Hello Everyone from a new forum member. It seems to be a time to replace my 45AH battery. Could you guys tell me what is the best batteries brand/model in terms of lifetime/price? Thank you.
Any links on good online deals are also welcome. Read more
At least one online seller gives the weight of his batteries with several to choose from, generally the more weight you get for the money the better the battery is.

That makes loads of sense. Thanks!
