Police condemn 147mph Jaguar driver Owen Swift was caught driving at 147mph by an officer using a laser speed gun
A police sergeant who caught a pensioner driving a luxury car at 147mph on a bypass has described the incident as "the worst case of excessive speed I have ever seen in 26 years of policing".
Company director Owen Swift, 68, was clocked travelling at more than twice the speed limit in his Jaguar XKR on the Malton bypass, in North Yorkshire, on the evening of June 11 last year.... Read more
Hi, I've recently been looking in to buying a car and I've chosen to go for a corsa. I had negotiated a deal for a slightly used 2011 registered corsa (1700 miles) for around 9000. However on uk car discount online I found the exact same model but brand new for just over 10k. I'm trying to decide what to do. I'm already pretty stretched as it is and so paying an extra 1.5k would be tough but then again it is a brand new car. Do you guys think it would be worth the extra outlay? I'm planning to use te car for around 2-3 years and then probably sell or trade it in.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Read more
Retgwte (how do you pronounce that?!) and John Boy - it look as if your posts have got cut off by the idiot Microsoft. I have the same problem myself. Instead of the useless IE9 try using Google Chrome or Firefox.
I am currently having a problem with my Passenger Door which cannot be opened to a Lock problem. This being a common fault with Peugeots.

Hi,
Yes thats exactly whats happening
Taken from Autocar's website.
Should I buy one?If you don’t, you should certainly have a damned good reason. Equipped with care, this Optima is an undeniable equal of some of Europe’s long-established, highly accomplished saloons. With sporting handling, distinctive styling and abundant value for money on the Kia’s side, in fact, it’s not difficult to imagine the open-minded giving up a VW Passat, Vauxhall Insignia or Ford Mondeo for one. Not difficult at all. Read more
Trilogy,
I thought your post was well meant so how the hell did it get so side-tracked? I was unaware of this model in the pipeline so thankyou for drawing it to my attention. It looks an awesome car....
Hello everyone, I am just hoping a few of you may be able to help me out. I have a 2003 Mazda 6 and the airbag light fails to illuminate at all once the key is turned, it just does nothing. This used to come on momentarily (doing it’s check) and then go off, however now it will not come on at all. Should this light not stay on if a fault is detected in the system, or why would mine be off in this case?

Having problems diagnosing problem. If I use full throttle the engine loses power and keeps slowing until I reduce throttle opening. If going at 70ish on a motorway I come to a hill the car slows to about 55 mph.
Additionally sometimes using low revs in high gear the engine misses and car judders.... Read more
Possibly a contaminated Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF), it is notorious for causing lack of power, poor running & poor fuel economy on a Mondeo TDCi, also Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system sooted/gunked up.
Clean the EGR and if the MAF hasn't been changed for yonks then it's well worth changing.
10 days ago, I bought a 60-plate VX Corsa 1.2 85bhp petrol 5-door for my wife, it's a Network Q job. Done 14,000 miles, was serviced 1000 miles and 2 months before we bought it.... Read more
Thanks both.
@ Victorbox - yes, NetworkQ do have a '30-day exchange pledge' for 'faults that cannot be repaired to a satisfactory standard'. ...
I think i'm going to stick to petrols due to problems on modern diesels.
Im after a mid-size engine (1.8-2.2) with decent enough power (minimum 140bhp).... Read more
The older Leon would have the old-style VAG 20 valve 1.8T. SWMBO ran one up to a starship mileage in an Audi A6 and it was pretty much bomb-proof. Cambelt changes at 60k if I recall but not that expensve at an Indy.
I seem to recall that c 35mpg was normal.
Hi,
I recently purchased a Renault Espace diesel from a garage. It was a part ex that they had taken in and were selling on. ... Read more
Hi ,
Simmo.
Garages can legally sell a car with a fault ,providing that they point out the fault to you, and for their own protection indicate in writing that the car was sold with a fault.
However they cannot legally sell a car as seen without warranty.
As they appear to have indicated a fault to you ,I don't think you can make a claim.
The mileage issue may allow you to return the car for a refund.if you can prove that the dealer advertised the car with 75000 miles ,or that they gave you an invoice showing 75000 miles. That would make the contract void ,the garage would be guilty of misrepresentation under the 1967 act.the act requires sellers to check the accuracy of any statements they make,to induce a sale.
It's easy for dealers to check though HPI and the direct gov /MOT history website.to see if a cars mileage is likely to be genuine.
Finally given that you appear to have paid approx £1000 ,for the car,and that you could probably sell it for £500 on e bay as a non runner, would you be better off cutting your losses and not having the car repaired.
Good luck with the car,
Please let the forum know the outcome.

He didn't deny he was the driver, he refused to get out of the car for the police! And yes i have refused to get out of the car for an obnoxious policewoman who called for backup because of that, and when I told them it was because of her agressive behaviour, (she was on her own too!) and yes i was in shorts and a tee shirt in a posh car.. after a few words with a more sensible officer i was let go when I said that i would be making a complaint about her agressivity and asked for her chiefs name and hq address.
