Ford Mondeo Mk2 - power loss - grahambute

Having problems diagnosing problem. If I use full throttle the engine loses power and keeps slowing until I reduce throttle opening. If going at 70ish on a motorway I come to a hill the car slows to about 55 mph.

Additionally sometimes using low revs in high gear the engine misses and car judders.

Would be grateful for any ideas

Possibly a contaminated Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF), it is notorious for causing lack of power, poor running & poor fuel economy on a Mondeo TDCi, also Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system sooted/gunked up.

Clean the EGR and if the MAF hasn't been changed for yonks then it's well worth changing.
