hi there does anyone know how to remove the mirror glass without breaking it on the above model i need to do this to change the outside temperature sensor mounted inside the mirror housing thanks Read more

inanimate

I know how to remove the glass but can I do so without breaking it - perhaps on a good day as this is a very delicately balanced operation! The mirror glass is clipped into its position. Tilt it fully downwards first and insert a (wide) steel ruler, paint scraper or equivalent between the centre of the glass and mirror housing to prise it out. If you can use 2 rulers etc from 2 sides of the mirror glass to spread the load more you will have a better chance of success. Suddenly, you will get a surprise and it will come out - that is if you have not broken the glass in the process! It can be done if you work at this carefully but positively. Put something soft underneath to catch it in case it springs out. Replacing it should be easy!

thanks for that fernando p will give it ago...

I see from the tv ads that renault are about to launch a full range of electric cars. Well as a previous renault owner, I would say that mechanically they're pretty strong (turbo diesels excepted) but, and its a big but, electrics wise they're hopeless. How are they going to make a quantum leap from a company which can't even make an electric window go up and down reliably, to a manufacturer of full electric cars? Are they having a laugh- I don't think you'll be if you buy one! Read more

Considering Renault are all but pulling out of the UK, I doubt we'll see any of these EVs, apart from maybe the Kangoo van one in London for Congestion charge avoidance.

Shortly the new Vauxhall Combo will be on the roads, which is a rebadged Fiat Doblo.

So when are the Journalists going to report how good one is against the other when they are both the same apart different wheels and badges.... Read more

autumnboy

Yes, but if you look at the PSA range of vans(Peugeot/Citroen/fiat), you will not see any difference apart from the wheel trims, hub caps and front rear badges.

Same applies to the new Vauxhall Combo and Fiat Doblo, has same everything apart from the wheels and badges, which are both made in Turkey.

Hi, my car failed to start shortly after i'd had it through the car wash. The problem has since been diagnosed as a drowned ECU. The lad at the garage has identified a couple of areas where the water managed to get into the ECU box, the most obvious of these being a definite V shaped cut into the box.

A couple of months ago my wiper blades stuck, due to the common problem of a corroded linkage. The work to replace this was done at HiQ. My question is; does the ECU Housing Box have to be removed or touched to gain access to effect a wiper linkage replacement, meaning it could have been damaged by HiQ. Also, is the quote of £950 for a new ECU accurate?... Read more

It's bad that one of HiQ's monkeys botched the job in the first place, but that's excellent customer service that they were willing to hold their hands up without a fight.

And thanks for reporting back.

I,have a small car sales business ,operating in Yorkshire.
The business is more of a hobby now that I'm in my sixties. I sell about 50 cars a year and carry a stock of 8 cars ,I sell most car types but try to keep the retail price below £7000.

As a sales policy I stock lower mileage cars , and always ensure that the prices are competitive by comparing auto trader internet prices.

Sales were fine up to September of 2011, but then stopped. From an average of 4 cars a month I'm now selling less than 1.

The stock is the same and the advertising is the same ,so what's happening.

For forum members who are in the trade ,are you experiencing similar problems ?
For car buyers ,have you recently put off replacing your car,why have you decided to do that. When do you think you will replace your car, will you buying a different car from your present one ,if so what will you replace it with and why.

To give members a feel of how bad trade is ,4 garages selling cars similar to me have closed ,all operated within a 2 mile radius of me.

It seems obvious that the recession is the reason for the decline ,however the recession has been an issue for about three years now .Why has it affected the used car trade so suddenly and with such a massive effect.

Any thoughts ,and suggestions, to resolve the situation would be very much appreciated.

Enough. There are more insults being traded further up the thread, none of them anything to do with Tony's original point. Thread locked.

Tony, if you would like more discussion about car sales, start another thread and I'll ensure that it sticks to the point.

I wonder if car manufacturers are having an internal competition to see who can come up with the stupidest names? 'Mokka' indeed. Mockery more like. Obviously the powers that be think there is room in the market for yet another absurd crossover. That Mokka looks like the panel beater had a bit too much time on his hands.
