Hi all,

I'm getting pretty bad economy (Or so I've been told) from my 104,000 mile Berlingo.... Read more

Same engine as yours and around same number on clock. We were a bit disapointed at first, the XUD BX returned well ovr 40mpg. Breeze block aerodynamics are a big factor.

The HDi could do 560 without too much trouble but was £1k more at time I bought mine.

Hello all,

I have a feeling that my brake pedal is harder than it was before. This happened recently and when I press the brake pedal, the pedal itself make a kind of noise as well. There is no noise coming from the wheels when I apply brake. Today I checked the brake hydraulic level and I realized that it is above maximum level. When I opened the cap, I could easily see the fluid inside. However, I remember that I could see the filter like sieve there. My front discs are quite new but not rear ones. Brake pads are similar. I am thinking to replace rear ones but if the problem is worn brake pads and discs, the fluid level would decrease not increase right?
Can you comment on this problem? What needs to be done? Thank you. Read more

Where the push rod enters the servo there is a rubber boot/bellows and air does vent through this. It may shut up if you clean and lubricate the boot. I suspoect it does not make the noise at first due to the ambient temperature. Regards Peter

On behalf of a friend, so I don't know full details of the model, but her Peugeot is only a few years old and her car runs out of petrol very quickly.

For example, she tops up her car to Half a Tank of petrol, but it runs down to the next level of the metre after just 3 miles. This results in her having to buy petrol much more often, which is expensive and is consuming more petrol than her car is meant to consume.... Read more

I'm in the market for a used Passat Estate (petrol, 2.0, 130bhp) for about £2k, so the car will probably be circa 2002. I've read a few conflicting comments about when the timing belt should be changed, some people are saying every 40k/4years. What is not clear is whether that interval applies to all engines.

My other question is whether the water pump should also be changed at the same time for the 2.0 130 engine?... Read more

When I filled the Mazda up at Sainsbury's, the nozzle wouldn't go into the neck of the tank. I tried 2 pumps and both were the same. I could still fill it up but was strange having the nozzle resting against the neck rather than in it.

Perhaps someone painted the hose green, changed the signs on the pump and my car doesn't mind running diesel......

All very pertinent points! And all ommited from the original post :-)...

Need some advice, I have a Renault Megane 2 litre petrol, 2004, 52,000 miles. Over the past two weeks I have notice a noise coming from the engine when starting my car in the mornings. After driving for a while it disappears.

The noise is fairly hard to describe, its a squeak/whirring noise which happens every two seconds, as mentioned it will continue to happen until the car is driven for a little while. I have had the fan belt replaced and the noise is still there. Any ideas what this could be? Read more

It has vexed me greatly as to why I see poor road positioning by other motorists. I have a theory though.

Firstly though, I have seen countless times an inability of another driver to place a car in a filter lane and thus leave a chunk of the back end sticking. Or when turning right off a single carriageway the car is abandoned at an angle waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before turning thus blocking following traffic. ... Read more

I think I am looking for something which doesn't exist! I would like a reasonable spacious vehicle to accomate wife, child and two dogs, and be able to take all of these plus luggage, plus occasional passengers (but 5 seats is enough).

I would like something utilitarian for stowing the dogs after muddy dogs (when they get wet and muddy they like to wait until they are in the car and then shake the water and mud off!).... Read more

Johnnyrev - I agree with GB: a twin-cab pickup like the Toyota ticks more of your boxes than anything else. If that's too extreme a solution, and what you want is something like your Doblo only bigger, a Skoda Roomster is worh a look or perhaps a Nissan Qashqai.

The Roomster is ugly, but you've got a Doblo so you probably don't mind that!

Hi, i hope this would be a quick one for you lot...

I am currently in a legal battle with the selling dealer of my car for over 2 years now. I have just received a letter from the manufacturer that states that dealership is now closed in the sales point of view but is only open for servicing and parts, no-one would tell me if the ownership is the same though.... You need to find out more about the legal basis of the company-just because they don't SELL cars any more doesn't mean that your claim is dead.

If they are a limited company you can check up on them for free here:-...
