What is it with GM wanting to protect technology in Saab? From all I have read the Saab 9-5 ain't up to scratch so what are GM so frightened of? The 9-5 has only got better once there's been a free reign without GM. I guess GM is worried a buyer will end up with the best bits Saab engineers developed for them. I'm under the impression now Saab is in administration GM can no longer dictate the sale. Read more
The engine occasionally misfires which can be followed by engine shut-down,all dashboard lights blazing and no power steering or brake servo. After pulling over and waiting for a few minutes engine can be re-started to resume journey as if nothing had happened! My local Volvo garage is unable to find the problem so have gone to a Bosch service centre.Despite their best efforts,a replacement electronic diesel pump and new crank sensor the problem persists. The car has travelled over 122,000 miles ,has been Volvo maintained regularly and otherwise goes well. The Bosch workshop suspects the wiring or the Control Unit but the former is encased and difficult to trace and check and the latter could I fear be an expensive item to diagnose, repair or replace. Any ideas please.......(I am getting to hear about similar problems with other cars, both diesel and petrol and of all ages - is it something to do with the additional sun-spot activity up there?) I seem to remeber these have a pre-pump in the tank driven by a relay. Volvo's in their early years had problems with the relays overheating and shutting down. Once they cool they would restart no problem. There were never any fault codes recorded flagged when this occured

Ive noticed lately there is water running down the passenger window wiper arm leading under bonnet, when the bonnet is open and u pour water on the window is appears to come though where the passenger arm goes through the plaster hole to the motor arm then drips down the back of the engine onto cable etc, is this normal? Also the left hand top of the suspension plate has water all over it, i keep soaking it up but cant see where its coming from. Anty help would be great :D Read more
To stop water accumulating in the top mountings of the suspension struts, try a pair of 1 1 / 4 ” (one and a quarter inch) rubber blanking plugs (get 'em from any good car-parts shop) in the holes – or measure the diameter first as yours might be different. 1 1 / 4 ” fit the top mounts on my Fiesta 1.4Tdci. I got the idea when I saw someone on e-Bay selling them to stop the problem you describe, but he wanted £5 a pair..
My car hasnt been used in about a week and when i went to start it yesterday there was no life in it at all, no lights, central locking wasnt working and it wouldnt turn over. After a jump i was able to get it started but even if i turned the steering wheel slightly the headlights would dim and it would lose power - the BAS light even came on and the power steering went, driving straight seemed to be ok.
My question is, does this sound like just a dead battery or might there be something more serious wrong with it?... Read more
Well i replaced the battery and all is well again, so thanks again for your help!!!
Hello,
I have an odd problem on my 2007 scenic - sometimes when the wipers are running on the fast setting they hit each other!... Read more
Last time I had that problem on a car it turned out that the el cheapo aftermarket blades I'd bought were about 3mm longer than the Bosch ones which fixed the problem....
This may not be the appropriate venue, but I saw a post in which Lord Strathcarron of Banchor mentioned a "famous motoring journo, Bunny Tubbs" with whom my father had a long-standing friendship. I am looking for someone who might know how to contact someone from Bunny's family who might be interested in having the several dozen letter he wrote to my dad. Read more
I have sent message directly to Bunny's Daughter explaining how we met her father in 1995. It is natural she would wonder who was making this enquiry from someone she does not know personally. My story is explaining why I posted the message it was a coincidence as I was doing a story about Ightham for my family and an old photograph resulted in a google search which led me to this site
I have a 2009 Peugeot Partner Teepee, which suffers from a very poor and noisy ride. It has had work done on the floor and the suspension 'jaws' have been replaced. However, the road noise is high and the when the car hits a pothole the whole car shudders and vibrates. Now to makes things worse it is sometimes making a brake screech type sound when the brakes are not being applied. This is more apparent when the car has been running for a while at higher speeds and is slowing down. It's been back to the dealers several times but they say that they cannot find any faults with the suspension or wheel bearings. Have any other Tepee owners had similar problems?... Read more
A mate's son is looking for one of these. We were surprised to find this one. Less than 5 years old. Good mileage if genuine
