Following on from another thread, and seeing as no-one seems to be able to come up with a cogent answer, I thought I'd ask the question directly.
We keep hearing that Asian cars lack 'soul' -- with the clear implication that European cars have this mythical quality.... Read more

Popular cars. £1000 shouldn't be an issue if in good condition. They sell on ebay auctions with many more miles for £800 so that is rock-bottom rate.

while i was at my dealers today, who are also a Saab dealer, a customer asked for the price of an Led pack for the rear brake lights (the normal ones, not the hi-level one) and both he and me and the parts man were stunned at the cost £233 + fitting!
OUCH! The customer declined saying his car wasn't worth that much !... Read more
The other ironic bit (don't laugh) chevrolet epica battery under warranty 4 days delivery from chevrolet dealer. Chevrolet epica battery from vauxhall dealer 20 miles away next day, ?????????????????????
Easier to understand if you realign the brand names as Daewoo and Opel....

Hi, i'm hoping someone can help. Here's a bit of the cars history:
Bought in 2009 from a reputible dealer, serviced as recommended with no problems until April 2011
Following service in April 2011 car engine cut out whilst driving, no warning lights before cutting out.
Car was returned to garage who couldnt find anything wrong with it. Cut out again a few days later. Garage again at a loss to finding a fault. Software was upgraded, problem seemed to be fixed until yesterday.
Driving at speed on motorway, engine seemed to lose power, pulled to hard shoulder, where car cut out completely, tried again 10 mins later, car started. Ran for 5 mins before cutting out again.
AA came, car started and managed to drive 20 miles to dealer without incident. AA ran diagnostics, no faults reported
Dealer ran diagnostics, no fault reported. Dealer tested all the usual suspects but nothing flagged up. This pm dealer tried to start the car but it wouldn't start. They have no clue what the problem is but will continue to look into it.
I am really worried about having this car back if they can't find the problem, it's a family car. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Read more

Hi all, this is my first post, so be kind...
I know there have been several, extremely well written posts on the subject of private car park charges, but none are quite the same as mine and I'd appreciate advice;... Read more

Out of interest what do they charge for staying for four hours then? Just pay them that, its all they're realistically 'owed.'
With the various issues I have had with my car since purchased, all fixed under warranty i must add, and the fact that I have been more than satisfied with the car in the past 18 months, I am less than satisfied with the main dealer for things other than the warranty, ie service parts not available, (no air filter in stock) a problem getting hold of a spare key, but sorted when I made a 140 mile round trip to another dealer here in south wales who had the key in stock and was kind enough to knock £30 off the cost which was enough to pay for the fuel used. My local vauxhall (network Q) have been servicing the car, twice this year plus intermediate oil change when "change oil now light" came on, another oil change due at 30,000 because i don't trust the dpf regeneration system even though it appears to be working properly, so to avoid a sump contaminated with diesel, I am doing supplementary oil change @ 5000 miles, with each main service every 10000, I have no problem with the costs of the serving at all.
So, even though I am satisfied with the car, will NOT be buying Chevrolet again, as the trips to get warranty problems fixed are costing me each time. 1st trip diagnosis, second fit part, 3rd to go back and get other parts fitted deemed necessary when 1st lot of parts fitted, so far has been the same scenario each time. Next car will be from my local dealer and very probably Insignia 1.8 petrol....... Read more
What does Youngrovergirl drive? As a surgeon she no doubt goes for reliability and lack of hassle.
She always had toyotas, but her father always bought them for her, chosen on reliability, but she doesn't actually like driving, so my part-time job now i am retired is "driver". She doesn't like driving in busy traffic, and has a very poor sense of direction.
Hoping someone can help....
Turned the ignition on and went to start the car but it wouldnt start (just turning over), then realised there were no dash lights on. I had to keep turning ignition on and off several times and wait for the dash lights come on which then allowed the car to start. Obviously there will come a time when that wont work and the car wont start at all so needs to get sorted asap.... Read more

Thanks Ed. Oh dear... I'm technically still quite young! So now I'm worried that i am old before my time. But I still like the look of the C5. The ones I am looking at have the steel springs and slightly lower spec, so more comfy wheels then!
