I bet it did :) In fairness, that sort of thing was endemic with more sporting test cars in the 60s and 70s.
Years back I worked with a US citizen who'd owned several big-cube cars when he was a student in the 70s ... back then, no-one wanted clunky old 'gas hogs' and such cars were often sold for just a couple of hundred dollars.
He singled out his old 1971 Dodge Polara 440 as his favourite. He said it would give 25 yards of rubber from a standing start any time you wanted, and that "you didn't even have to stall it on the brake, just drop it into gear and plant it" :)
