I have a 1998 406 2.1 diesel and the heating controls on the centre consul have stopped working. When you press the re-circulate or aircon push buttons, nothing illuminates and nothing happens. Theblower and fan slider also does not work, so I have no heating and the windows keep steaming up!!! Not very good at this time of year! Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated. (I can feel warmth coming from the vents when I am going along) thanks

Sounds as though you have a power failure to the blower/control unit. I have not so far had this problem with mine but I have had with earlier Citroens and its usually due to the failure of a 30a or thereabouts fuse in the engine compartment fusebox. On the XMs the actual fuse holder burns out but I think on later cars it has been uprated.

I will check out the fuses in the engine compartment and also the power connection at the rear of the unit. Thanks for the advice

HI, sorry I haven't been in touch for so log, I've been unwell!. I still have the problem with the aircon and blower. Ive checked all the fuses which are ok. Ive taken out the fan and changed the capacitors. Still no joy.....what next?!?!
