Difficult as this is intermitant, have you checked the carb solenoid?long shot I know but I've seen it happen. My next step would be to rig up a voltmeter/dwell meter in a semi pemanant connection to the dizzy and have the meter in the cab to monitor it.and if I recall that one was a ballast resister coil, possible open circuit on the resister.

Doesn't sound ecu related, sounds more like voltage supply,ie battery terminals,earths..etc.if your not getting any dash lights it's not powering up.recut the battery posts, the tools not expensive, same with the clamps, take off all engine/gearbox earths and scrape the until shiney, then I'd move on to look at the ignition switch.

BTW, a Mazda 6 wheel bearing (both OEM and pattern) was £70-odd - twice the price of the Focus.

OK but vans are subject to the LEZ whereas cars are not.

You could just use some tint or mirror film on the rear windows to obscure the vision. AFAIK It's only the driver and pass front windows and windscreen that need to be clear -ish.

Astra (2002 & 91,000miles). From monitoring in earlier years I know engine now uses oil at approx 1ml per mile Oil level dips fine when it has just been changed but after a month or two it is almost impossible to get a true dip. Level continues to show 'full' when it must have used oil (based on mileage driven). Don't want to overfill or run too low either. What is likely cause and solution? Read more

I agree with RT, but have you also considered you may now be using a better oil that doesn't get 'used' as before?
