ford mondeo ghia x 51 reg - whistle from front left speaker - moodys

have a whistle from front left speaker, have changed speaker , battery, fitted inline suppressor, checked wiring , had auto ignition look over it , changed radio/cd unit 6006e, still there ?. any other things i can try , other than the alternator?. thanks..

That sounds very strange if you have changed the radio. Is the sound there all the time, does it vary with the volume control, does it vary in pitch with engine speed?

it is not affected by volume control, but increases with engine revs, gets worse when lights are put on ?...gets on your nerves after awhile.! not sure what else to check or do?..many thanks..

Unusual to get interference on one of these.I would remove alternator drive belt to see if that kills the noise.Also is this car a petrol or diesel?hth

its a petrol , and thanks i will try that , if it does not work then ??????.. i guess i will have to put up with it ?.. thanks again.

If removing the belt kills the noise,then it is most likely an alternator induced problem through the wiring harness.You can either leave the speaker disconnected or try wiring the speaker seperately away from the main wiring to the radio.hth

whistle has been there since i brought car 5wks ago, but speaker was disconnected when i road tested car , asked them to check if speaker was ok, they said it was just disconnected and would have it done. never put radio on when i was driving it home, only checked to see if it was working on garage forcourt. (engine not on )...

thanks, have tried that,(wiring the speaker ) still there.but will try removing alt belt.

faulty HT plug leads have been known to cause radio interference on older shape mondeos - esp when listening to AM. Work a look....
