I've not parked my car off road as I'm not the only person insured to drive it. I've sent my driving licence with new address details filled in off to DVLA under advice from 'honest john' and will see what happens...fingers crossed!!...

my lovely old Toyota has started to make a ticking noise when driving straight and accelerating hard, in 3/4/5th gears. The sound comes from around the passenger well, its not the cv's, possibly gearbox. I use the van for towing a caravan. Any suggestions or possible cures please. Shes old and has done 122K.... i recently moved bought a house and before i moved in the next door neighbours removed a dividing hedge and built a brick wall without any kind of discussion.

She does not live or work in the London area and has never driven there.... Read more
I had one of these years ago and , yes it was in London. I found which was the nearest police station to where the alleged offence took place and reported it as a cloning attempt and got an incident/crime number, adding that I had an independent witness who could confirm the car on the day at the time as being not in London. Sent this back-never heard another word.

Madf - You know the way everything plastic in the 70's /80's was cool becasue they used plastic as a material in its own right to embrace the fact that it LOOKS PLASTIC

was wondering if you could help me?
I'm currently having problems with my 1.8 astra, I recently got the engine replaced as piston failure occurred when driving down the motorway due to low oil, the mechanic said now after the new engine in when He reconnects the battery leads without the ignition on the fuel injectors are staying open and filling the cylinders and inlet manifold full of fuel.
The mechanic said it was a ECM so that was another 150pound, So I purchased a 2nd hand brain off him with chip and reader and the mechanic replaced it with NO CHANGE!
I think I might be getting taken on and was wondering if you could explain if this was the cause or not or what is the problem?
Any help would be much appreciated

thanks for the replies ;)
Found the starter wires were mixed up (earth and live) as on the vauxhalls the live is black and the earth is brown as I just found out.lol. It was causing a massive short and opening the injectors.
Yes big John I will certainly take your advice and replace the oil again.

Car temperature usually normal but noticed it was at top of "normal" range this afternoon. I switched on car heater but only cold air blasted into car. Despite this the temp gauge did return to middle of "normal" range.
Got home and turned engine off but fan carried on running for at least 5 minutes.... Read more
There may be air trapped in the system preventing it from filling properly. Start the engine and (carefully) squeeze the larger coolant hoses. This may loosen air bubbles.. As it's a diesle it will not warm up idling.. So
Carefully check coolant : and top up if needed....

Lee, I think you should search this forum for threads on this model - look particularly in Technical up to 1 year back - and you'll see a particular thread that had 100 posts.
There have been horrendous engine problems with the 2.0 diesel in the 6, and most people are saying 'steer clear'....
