Revoked licence?!? Help please - cazzano1989
Hi. I had a bump with another car at the beginning of this month and was given a producer for my licence insurance certificate and mot certificate. Took these things into police station today to be told I'm not covered to drive my boyfriends car even though I'm on a fully comp policy!(so this bit I get) however was also told that my licence had been revoked in feb this year! I attended court in April for a speeding fine but didn't have my licence took off me was given a 14 day ban on the grounds losing my licence would cause hardship. What I don't understand is the police said my licence has been revoked because I didn't send it off for points putting on but I didn't receive points also they revoked it in feb but my court appearance was in April! I don't know what I'm supposed to do now and what does it actual mean to have my licence revoked surely I should have received a letter etc or my insurance company would have known two months ago when I took out a new policy? Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

It goes like this:

Speeding.

Court

Ban - due to ban points not awared but need for Driving Licence to be endorsed with conviction by Court. For a short ban Licence returned direct after Court tells DVLA of endorsement. (Long bans Licence sent to DVLA). You did not surrender your Licence so as a naughty boy they revoked your Licence. The effect, until such time as you reinstate, is that you are driving without a Licence. The Good news is that your Insurance does not become void but there is need to tell them of your ban - read the policy small print..

The second bit of good news is that if you send your Licence with an application to renew (photos - form at Post office and fee) DVLA will issue a new Licence with points free but that endorsement thereupon. Voila - street legal.

PS. If you have a load of entitlements on your DL photocopy before sending so that you can ensure DVLA do not drop any.

As well as no insurance, you may be charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

You have no defence to that, but your driving without a licence was an oversight rather than willful flouting of a ban, so that's good mitigation.

Thanks. Still don't understand though should the court have kept my licence as they handed it back to me after the hearing this was almost a year ago now and this is the first I've heard of it!
