Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to say thanks for the information and suggestions whilst I have been searching for a car. Following a soul destroying month of looking at lots of cars and reading and reading and reading we finally put a deposit on a car yesterday.... Read more

I bought a 2007 Corsa from a used car dealer and regret ever going near them. Links View Garages of Wallasey, Wirral left me with two pints of fuel max so I almost ran out of fuel( they use jerrycans!) Who would have paid for that if the catalytic convertor had been ruined?? They made mistakes on the MOT and the road tax. They only supplied one key although they said their cars all came with two. That alone has cost me £78; Links View refuse to reimburse or even contribute towards. They have also refused to acknowledge that a body crease was there and was missed by me and by them thereby directly implying that I am a liar and trying to pull a fast one. I have written to them and would say to anyone who is considering buying a used car from them: DONT.

I have never had a bad experience with a car dealer before but the guy who owns links view garage in Wallasey cannot be trusted. Do not buy a car from here, any problems and he will leave you for dust. Extremely rude man and dishonest.

Anyone doing any car shows this summer? Showing anything cool? Just looking at all the lovely cars? Read more

I'll be going to the usual car shows in and around Sheffield. There's a small one that has a lovely cosy feeling to it. I might even take the XM along, there's usually no Citroens at all. The XM's not a show car but then it is run daily now.

My car has developed a Sqeak/whistle from the drive belt area ( it is a similar sound to a screeching fan belt but not so loud)

It is not there on tick-over but as soon as I rev the engine the sound can be heard,. I have switched the aircon off and the noise is still there. The drive belt was replaced about 5000 Km ago.... Read more

No, I have tried it with the lights on and it is just the same.

Anything above tickover and it squeaks and it doesn't increase in pitch or loudness when I rev the car....

Newbie Need some advice.
Hi
First time owner of a Mini.
Picked up an MCS yesterday, bought the car from a local VW/Audi dealership
car is an 07 plate with 46000 miles full BM service history, last service was at 43000 miles. The dealership I bought it from have Mot'd it and put 2 new tyres on the front which I thought was very good of them plus they have agreed to fix a crack in the front bumper at their expense as it appears to have happened while in their possession.
This brings me to my need for a bit of advice. I was offered an extended 2 year warranty at 395 pounds which I thought was quite reasonable, also a service and Mot package 2 years for 179 pounds. Here's where it gets tricky
The dealership is owned by Arnold Clark not a name to inspire confidence.
Reading some of the comments on the web it' s surprising they manage to sell any Cars. Well I decline the warrant and service package. Still have 2weeks to take it if I want it.
Also found out that they own Harry Fairbains BMW dealership in Geffnock Glasgow. Not to far from me.
So I'm wondering should I take the warranty & service plan which I believe I could use at the BMW dealership or just stay clear.
Thanks for any advice
Ian

Thanks for the quick response
Will have a look around, finding it hard to get a 100 percent review on any warranty company. I expect they all have good and bad points.

My old nieghbour`s xsara has devolped a strange steering problem I have never come across.

Driving in a straight line the car will suddenly turn to the right or left even though the steering wheel is central. After correcting the direction it continues to drive straight and then it will occur again.Very Scary. Anyone experienced this fault? Read more

More than likely the rubber mounts for the rear subframe, my 306 would do that all the time, both rear mouts were broken in two and the fromts were nearly as bad! Only about 30 quid for the set.

I bought a Rio Chill 58 plate in January and it's now showing about 16500 miles. I can't seem to average more than about 30mpg. I do mainly short runs around town but interspersed with longer runs most weeks, I try not to be lead footed. The car is under warranty until September this year and has been back to the dealer's twice, they apparently carried out diagnostic inspections but found no fault records. The last dealer updated the ECU but there seems to be no difference. Am I expecting too much, are all these models heavy on fuel or is there any tuning that can improve things. Read more

I assume it is a 1.4

How short are the journeys? 30mpg is about right for a 1 mile journey from a cold start....
