bursty

I have a problem where the revs on my Corsa increase from 2000rpm to 3000rpm excessively quick and then drop and then eventually settles out. The rev counter needle sort of moves up and down for a few seconds.

Around town the vehicle is ok, it is just when the car is being used on National Speed Limits and on the approach to motorways and acceleration is harder than usual. It is as though the turbo is kicking in and is running faster than the engine.... Read more

It is also smoking a little more than usual.

I don't want to alarm you, but I think you should get the oil seal on the turbo checked asap. I think it might be letting oil into the intake when the turbo spools causing unintended aceleration and smoke. If it fails completely, the engine can run away on its own oil.

Having major problems with a 03 citroen C8 sx auto petrol. Been quoted £200 for a new throttle body as the car looses revs and will only drive in limp mode. Despite trying to add WD40 to the throttle body it intermitantly works. If i go ahead with the new throttle body i am wondering whether this will fix the antipolution fault im getting on the lcd. Before the vehicle become unable to drive we also had a gear management fault any ideas what this problem is? Any advice appreciated. Read more

Did you have any luck with what is wrong. We have the same issue now and the garage is believing it is a throttle body or switch!

The question I have is about the main beam warning light that I get on the dash board.
When the lights are set to 'main beam' (brightest setting), the blue headlamp symbol on the dash is lit which is normal.
When the lights are set to 'dipped', I still get the blue headlamp symbol on the dash which is not normal.
The actual headlamps themselves work OK, it's just the dash indication that seems wrong to me.
This electrical issue just started yesterday. Read more

Having done some research, I have located the problem:

The plug at the back of the o/s headlight has partially melted. I tried to salvage what was left of it in order to get it working. It worked again as good as before. (Ideally I should have replaced the melted plug)....

Intesresting read this morning: www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8552721/Road-con...l

I live 36 miles from my job. Most of the drive is on the M6 with some country lanes as well, so on a good day it takes me 38-40 minutes. On a bad day it's closer to 50 mins and sometimes it's a full hour. Last year I lived elsewhere, same job, and the commute was 59 miles each way. That used to take me 45-50 minutes.... Read more

After the protests of 2000 the law was changed to make it virtually impossible for the most important people (haulage firms) to strike. Without them on board, you cant do it. Basically if they strike they lose their operating licence, and will just leave it wide open for the Poles or whoever to come in and do it instead, so its not worth the Hauliers doing it now, despite the firm near me having a £50million diesel bill (when it was half that just four years ago).

They say the tax is to discourage use, well fuel by the litre sales have reduced in the last few years, we're selling less and less of it, and the price just keeps going up and up to cover the Governments "losses." So the idea of "use less, price comes down" is a non starter and a strawman argument put forward by the Government. The more we keep buying fuel effecient cars the more the price will rise. As is the free-to-tax cars, their higher price means they make a hefty slice from the VAT on it, they make sure they dont lose.
