Hi Backroomers
I have a deauville, and I have recently noticed that when riding over bumps in the road, over the more pronounced ones it emits a knocking from the front of the bike. I have checked freeplay carefully, finding it is all ok in the front of the bike. I wonder what might be causing this. Please give me some pointers in trying to resolve this issue.... Read more

Did the OP have it in writing that the insurance company believed he was involved in the taking of the vehicle? That would have to be worded VERY carefully I would imagine.
Solicitor time, methinks.
I have a CR-V 2.2 i-DTEC EX March 2010. From new, creaking at all speeds and road surfaces was apparent which became worse as the weather became hotter. It was tolerated for 5 months but became unbearable so the car went back to the main dealer to remedy the problem. They reported stones in the underside of the car protection shields but that did not solve the problem. With the onset of winter, a cold one with lots of snow and ice, the creaking stopped. Since Feb/March 2011 it has started again and is now terrible. I have tried hosing down the underside of the car but that only marginally improves the constant creaking. Nobody who travels in the car can locate the noise. Some are convinced it is in the dash, others around the seats, others like me believe it comes from the underside of the vehicle. PLEASE HELP, we are going mad! Read more
I have noted similar problems to this and am tussling with the dealer and Honda UK at the moment. We could do with comparing notes. I can be contacted at rwedlake0@gmail.com
The speedo intemittently drops to zero for a while and starts working again later. Any ideas what it could be and if it is a straightforward repair as part of an annual service? Read more
Ok there has been mention of 'petrol chicken' and suchlike. This thread is by way of The_Grouch's 'how many miles...' thread.

Both my current Mazda 5 and previous Mazda 6 have managed 50 miles of moderate driving, after the warning light has come on. Upon refilling to the brim, they have been within 5 litres of the capacity stated.I very rarely do I let mine drop below 1/4 tank, especially as there are not a huge number of filling stations in my neck of the woods.
When I recently bought my new Seat Ibiza 1.4 SE 85PS I expected it to have a bit more power than my previous car (Polo 1.4 75PS), but it doesn't seem to be the case. The Polo felt very flexible and long-legged, easily sailing up hills often in 5th gear, but the Ibiza is sometimes down to 3rd gear for same uphill speed. I just wonder if the ECU is programmed with a "running in" algorithm so that the engine never labours in too high a gear for the first 1000 miles or so after which it will become easier to drive. Anyone else had similar experience? Read more
No. People often get disappointed by petrol engines with high specific outputs. At an engine speed of 2000-3000 RPM ALL naturally aspirated petrols make almost exactly the same amount of torque and power. It feels slower than the Polo, because: a.) it is heavier and b.) it has taller gearing to flatter the economy.
Think in terms of engine speed rather than 'gear'. You'll probably find 3rd corrosponds to 4th in the Polo. To see those 85 ponies you'll need to be well north of 5 grand on the tach.

Awesome. Thanks Galileo.
They used to process coffee with benzene to take out the caffeine. Yummo.
