Honda Deauville 2003 NTV650 - HONDA DEAUVILLE KNOCKING - Gregory II

Hi Backroomers

I have a deauville, and I have recently noticed that when riding over bumps in the road, over the more pronounced ones it emits a knocking from the front of the bike. I have checked freeplay carefully, finding it is all ok in the front of the bike. I wonder what might be causing this. Please give me some pointers in trying to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Greg

Sounds like it could be the front forks bottoming out. Heavier grade oil in forks should do the trick, if not it's new fork springs.

Possible causes :-

Loose steering head bearings.

Worn fork bushes and /or level of correct oil in forks.

Loose fork clamps upper or lower.

Loose wheel spindle nut or clamp bolts.

Loose mudguard or bracket.

Brake hose rapping against mudguard.

Brake pads loose in the calipers/broken/missing anti- rattle springs in the calipers.
